I would have rather have DeRozan tbh, but we must move on from the past.

Derozan got 76, so 1 mill more

Last year not fully guaranteed.

A 36 year old who can't shoot from deep. With a team that needs shooting. Makes sense.

That's great. Rich Paul normally gets the dreaded player option in the final year for his clients. I'm glad we held firm as I'm sure he would have pushed hard for it.

That way we have just enough team control over him to have leverage for a trade deadline trade for a propect and a first round pick to a contender ala PJ but we aren't commited to a ticking time bomb for 4 or 5 years if he has a down start to next season.

$30 million would be clearly bidding against ourselves, unless Utah pull a surprise in the next day or two.

Nailed it haha

Anyone complaining about this deal shows that you would not be happy with any realistic deal if it meant bringing Miles back. Which is fair, you do you. But in terms of basketball business, this is as good as it gets for the Hornets. I figured if something like this would happen, we wouldn't hear about it until late August. Miles gets to put a lot of this behind him now and focus on basketball. If this doesn't work out but he stays out of trouble, it's one of the most easily tradable contracts for a 21ppg wing in the NBA.

Seeing the Miles news hitting the GB, reading through the first page and seeing back to back comments from a Pacers and Lakers fan showing nothing but stark condemnation makes me laugh considering Ron Artest, Stephen Jackson, Jermaine O'Neal, and Kobe all exist

Yeah I decided to get people a little fired up last night. Half those people regardless of what they say would be elated if they trades or signed him outright.

doesnt even bother me if people just wanna say "Miles Bridges sucks" or hes a scumbag or whatever, thats fine

when people say "i could/would never root for my team if they signed this guy" isn't that though, thats literally just attacking Hornets fans like they're all morally superior to us if we elect to continue rooting for the team. when literally every team in every sport has shitheads up and down their roster/staff/front office

**** Magic fans morally condemning me while their team owners started **** Blackwater, **** off. absolutely braindead

I'm a Charlotte native and started rooting for the Hornets back in the 90's. Haven't bothered with the GB thread. I've never rooted for any other NBA team. Pretty much gave up following the team more recently due to being unwilling to subject myself to Cliff 2.0 and Miles. Now that the team has a new coach the biggest thing I'm struggling with is whether or not to invest energy into caring about a team with Miles Bridges on it. I've been pretty excited about a lot of the other things going on Hornets wise, but this may be my make or break factor.

That other teams have dudes like this isn't a factor for me. If anything it's further proof that I should be looking elsewhere.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

yeah thats fine if thats your deal, but thats not what these guys we're talking about are doing. they just see an opportunity to trash on another fanbase and take it. personally, im not going to make the effort to morally audit every business i support because i'd rather not live in a cave foraging for my dinner fully disengaged from society. i don't like what Miles did, but he did it, he was held accountable for it at least to the highest degree (by far) of anyone in NBA history as far as suspensions and punishment goes while being far from the first (or last) guy guilty of it.

Meh, people who comment on teams they don't like are, 99% of the time, woefully uneducated on subjects they think they command. Every guy sucks until he's on my team, then I'll hard-sell him regardless. If Detroit signed Bridges, he'd be thought of as a perennial all-star by the same people who claim he's garbage. And any board who has a guy comparing Brandon Miller to Nic Batum doesn't deserve one atom of consideration.

Yeah, forum leadership/long term residents behave(s) mostly herd-ike. Nothing you say can penetrate their bubble world puffery. They string together hyperbole in every response and fail at providing a firm answer to a yes or no question.

Miles is my least favorite Hornet of all time. Even I can say this is a good deal; especially considering it is only 3 years. I'm pretty confident in saying that he is not gonna be apart of our longterm core.

Looking forward to mid December when he is tradeable again. Certainly we can get 2025 draft capital from teams trying to boost themselves up a couple of spots in the standings.
Your Charlotte Hornets! We’ll eventually get something right;right?

We will have to see how he embraces a vet role like Grant does (while citing Miles as a leader in his own right). If Miles contributes greatly to any playoff advancement in the next 3 years, the front office would have to recalibrate even a harder stance against him playing here beyond 3 years.

I loathe Miles as a person but man, I sure hated Michael Carter-Williams as a player.

Now that they have their GM, coach, and all their main offseason moves done, lets start firing and upgrading the medical/training staff.

They already did that.

Miles should be grateful beyond words. He made huge mistakes, took horrible actions, and yet here he is, with a new multi year contract.

Seriously, this opportunity is a gift he should embrace with everything he’s got. Dedicate himself to being a good man, a good father, and the best player/teammate possible. Focus on getting better defensively. Improve by several degrees every year, be an adult, and he can be filthy rich.

For the sake of our Hornets, I hope he accomplishes every bit of this.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.
