Edey is number 1 by a landslide. If we get pick 3 or 4 or 5 we should trade up to number 1 and then Steve Clifford should sprint to the podium to take Edey.

I'm legitimately not sure if you're trolling or if that's how you truly feel

He's not trolling, he's been on the Edey train on the NBA Draft board for a while. He legitimately thinks he's the next Shaq.

Dean on draft compared him to Shaq like a year ago, so I wouldn't feel comfortable taking credit for that comparison

I have a feeling that gobobs will be disappointed in how poorly edey performs his rookie year. I have a feeling that the rest of us will be surprised by how well he does.

We will all laugh at this when we draft Dalton Knecht.

Going by this, his NBA team gets waxed on the boards once someone gets him to actually try and move his feet.

Anybody watching the NBA playoffs? Please explain to me how Edey hangs with the pace and rotation of athletes at this level? He can’t, at least for major minutes and be effective on both sides of the ball.

Having said that, I do think he can play in this league, and will be a good contributor off the bench and in key defensive situations. I’d never take him any earlier than late lottery.

Not a huge Edey fan but c’mon - the guy is a crazy space eater. He only needs to take one step for every other players’ three. Slow-bert. As a bench big he’ll be fine. Yes, late lotto. Yes, pnr victim. Yes, needs the right team. But news of his bustiness seems a tad jump-the-gun, hate the archetype.

Yeah, he's so slow in a lot of those defensive clips. Don't show much awareness either. Quick guards will eat him alive

If they want to trade back into the first to get him, without giving up a big asset, fine, but definitely not top 8

I mean I'd rather him than Kai Jones lol

You can't seriously be happy with drafting Dalton Knecht and in the same breath laugh at trading the pick for Deni Avdija, who is the same age as Knecht except 3 inches taller, a way better defender, rebounder, and passer, much better at finishing at the rim and already has 3 years of NBA experience

If we draft Knecht we might as well just move the team, I mean what are we doing as a franchise

And no I don't think that will happen.

He absolutely could average 20 and 10 if a team committed to playing him 35 MPG, that’s not out of the question at all.

The question is if you could field a modern offense or a competitive defense doing so.

To be fair we fielded an okay defense with AL Jefferson as our starting center.

Now you guys got me defending Zach Edey what the hell

I don't think Edey will be bad, I just think he's a bad fit on a LaMelo Ball team.

Think about our best Melo games and the best basketball we've played with him on the team. What are his biggest strengths as a playmaker and offensive centerpiece. It's mostly based around speed, quick decision making, space, lightning fast penetration and passing to athletic cutters and shooters.

Edey is the antithesis of that. LaMelo likes a screen then creates space and makes a very quick read. He is the opposite of the probing PG that allows his big deep position for a slow developing play. We need to play havoc offense not Edey offense.

I was about to post this.

Does this mean Holland who many have compared to Jaylen Brown?

Perhaps, but could also see Risacher in that role…maybe even Buzelis. A lot depends on where we pick.

We need dawgs. Strength and athleticism on the wing. Switchability. Miller is a decent athlete but he’s not going to be bullying guys or getting 10 rebounds a game. We need a Josh Hart type.

Edey will either be serviceable or the next Boban

Then Stephon Castle is our guy. :D

I wish he was more athletic man. He’s really not a top tier or even top 20% athlete he’s just above average.

Guys, watching the playoffs and seeing the level of speed, competitiveness, depth and skill on these teams, I’ve come to a serious conclusion:

…WE NEED A LOT MORE OF ALL OF THE ABOVE!

Whomever we pick in this question mark draft better be a hit. Doesn’t have to be a star, but a big swing and miss puts us well behind the recovery plan. So glad Lee is our coach..feel like his acumen for evaluation and development is bound to be sharp. Part of his mission is to identify the biggest potential STUD, and the biggest potential DUD among the top ranked prospects. Let’s all play the game; limit your selections to those players identified as top 10 prospects by the NBA (list is in this thread). My choices as of this date:

> Biggest Potential STUD - Ricacher: As young as he is, he has the length, skill set and shooting touch to be a special player. Is athletic, but needs a better handle to be an elite player. Could fit in very well beside Miller in a Charles Lee scheme.

> Biggest Potential DUD - Alex Sarr: WHAT??? Let me explain. I don’t think Sarr will have a bad career, but for a guy most think will be picked number 1, his offense is pretty limited. Not really big enough to be a center with that thin frame, and not yet skilled enough to play a stretch 4. Does he develop these skills and become a star? Or plays just OK, and joins the list of #1 misses on bigs?
