I'd like to know as well, because Batum IS an all-world defender, and not only from Blazer homers.

And don't you dare call me a Frenchy homer :p

The "consulting surgeon" whispers that he believes the best-case strategy for handling Roy is this: A) Limit Roy's practice reps to almost nothing; B) Play him off the bench in 65-75 or so games a season, choosing rest in key spots; C) pray. Surgeon suspects the Blazers might get 1-2 years out of Roy employing this strategy. Right now, I think they'd take that, and hope for the best. Roy is a fierce competitor and I won't count him out.

Not sad to me.

I was upset when he dicked around with our team so that we would pass on drafting him, but maybe it worked out for the best.

Roy would benefit from having Grant Hill as a mentor. If Grant Hill can come back from his ankle issues and have a successful career, I don't see why Roy can't do the same. Now, if he does the 65-75 games for the next two years without having the knee repaired further, then he's probably done.

He needs to take a few years off, get healthy, and make a comeback.

I'm getting old so I forget all the details...

...but basically Roy strung us along during pre-draft workouts and basically intimated that he did not want to play for us. His agent was Arn Tellem, who Charlotte NBA franchises have had a bad history with. Whether it was Roy not wanting to play for us or his agent not wanting him to play for us is of no consequence to me -- it was a **** move.

It sounds like he's going to get to skip lots of workouts now.

I really dislike the Blazers organization, for various reasons (the Roy situation, the Darius Miles situation, etc). I must say, I've been thoroughly amused at the hands karma and bad luck have dealt them lately.

Flew in from the West Coast, flight was delayed and got in at 6:00am. Only had a ham and cheese to eat all morning, came into the workout, did it for about 30mins and said he was feeling all light headed from the time zone change, the flight coming in late and not having a chance to eat enough. Bickerstaff said he understood and would reschedule the workout for a later date.

He was approached a week later about coming in again and it never happened.

Tallem spent a lot of that draft posturning and positioning his players and trying to get them drafted by the teams he wanted them drafted by.

The whole thing (especially the original Roy story) smelt very fishy.

They're not awful because they passed on a guy who didn't want to be here, whose agent didn't want him to be here, who pussied out of a workout for us, who refused to schedule another one all the while working out with other teams, oh, and who may have no knees -- who knows since we didn't get to look him over thoroughly?

Well, I guess we all know now :)

He played 66 games with them. And that's after the hoops the team had to jump through to get him and his country (really?) to accept playing for MIL. Not the best of examples. Maybe Ricky Rubio is better...well, wait...

On a serious note, I'm sure there have been times where teams have drafted players that tried to manuever away from those teams. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it works out for a little bit (see: Baron Davis, another Arn Tellem client), and sometimes it doesn't work out at all.

Point is, unless it is can't-miss talent, such threats can and do scare teams off, even moreso when the guy has had a questionable injury past like Roy.

Blame the Bobcats for skipping on a guy like Gay, who turned out to be pretty damn good, who wanted to be here, and busted his butt working out for us on two separate occassions. Use him as an example of us sucking at drafting, not Roy.

How about them Lakers? Lost again, this time to Cleveland!!!

Kobe must still be drunk, shooting 33% but still taking 24 shots and turned the ball over 7 times.
Is he turning into Jax?

Meanwhile Gasol goes off for 30pts, 20 rebs.

Seriously why couldn't we have traded for him???

He's terrible as a rapper but his songs are hilarious.

I bet he enjoyed them yesterday.

Crap day though; I've been up for nearly five hours trying to fix a major computer problem. It's an absolute train wreck.

Happy birthday to our team owner, Michael Jeffrey Jordan! :D

I wish you'll be more willing to expend some money to make this team a more competitive one.

Wow, a guy on the GB actually predicted the Lakers would lose to the Cavs. Pretty impressive :D
