I would prefer him step up in other areas of the game if his shot isn't falling. Like say, keeping Ray Allen from scoring 15 points on 67% shooting.

But boy am I glad he kept on shootin' even though it didn't help the team

Are you aware of who Ray Allen is?

Every coach on the planet would tell his best guard to keep shooting even if his shot wasn't falling.

Hendo was shooting contested jump shots with multiple defenders on him & 3 pointers off the dribble. He was trying to do too much. Maybe he was just testing out what he worked on throughout the Summer to improve upon his offensive repertoire, but it didn't work last night. Actually, it hasn't worked much at all throughout the preseason excluding his 19 point debut to the 2012-2013 campaign against the Wizards.

Gerald Henderson does not, in any way, have "Keep Shooting" privileges.

Obviously you are unaware of who Ray Allen is. Do some research, and get back to me.

Obviously he does. Sometimes I think some of you forget that we are just fans. Our opinions don't mean jack.

You'd be surprised how far the word of opinion can travel, and sometimes opinions are more than just opinions, they are stating the obvious. Hendo was the 'Cats best player last season only by default.

Henderson is a good-but-not-really-good player, and will never be a great one. Like many of these cats, his best role is that of a key reserve. Same goes for Ben Gordon.

Hendo is a good defender but not a lock-down guy. He can shoot but is very inconsistent. Really good players start to emerge after their 2nd year in the league, while great ones have it early and just keep refining their abilities. Hendo got better last year, but remained up and down in performance. Same pattern is appearing in the preseason.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Again, if that incredibly uninformed and lazy statement is the best you can do, then please don't waste my time.

Ray Allen is a 37 year old backup who is largely relegated to spot up duty. Gerald Henderson is bigger, stronger, faster, and younger. He's known (for no real reason) as a strong defender, yet Allen goes for 15 on 67% shooting in only 26 minutes.

No wonder we suck so bad, our "best player" is worse than their 6th man.

Obviously he does. Sometimes I think some of you forget that we are just fans. Our opinions don't mean jack.

I mean obviously. That's why he's taken so many shots thus far. Oh, wait....

He's attempting less shots per game than Mully, Kemba, Sessions, and (at the same position) Gordon.

Gordon - 14/game
Mully - 11.75/game
Sessions - 11.67/game
Kemba - 11/game
Hendo - 10/game

He's also shooting by far the worst of any of our 5 guys averaging at least 10 attempts per game.

Mully - 46.8%
Sessions - 44.3%
Kemba - 41.8%
Gordon - 41.4%
Hendo - 36.7%

And how about that range he says he's been working on for the past two off seasons? Must have been talking about the golf range because he's been pathetic from three thus far

Mully - 43.8%
Gordon - 34.8%
Kemba - 30.8%
Sessions - 26.7%
Hendo - 7.7%

I hope that was enough research for you

 Thank you for stating this. Good defender is just a stereotypical label that scouts give to decent basketball players with limited offense.

He is also a 37 year old back up who averaged only 1 less point per game last year than Hendo did. I don't know why you are acting like you don't know that Ray is one of the best shooting guards in history, and that the first ballot hall of famers have a tendancy to be very effective into their late 30's just ask Kareem, Mike, and Kobe about that.

No wonder we suck so bad, our "best player" is worse than their 6th man.

You are just figuring that out! Even Miami's bench players were looking great against us the other night.

I can't ague with the other stuff. Like I said in another post I was just glad that he wasn't standing around watching the game like he had a bag of popcorn in the stands. He has done that in the past you know.

The deadline for teams to sign players entering the final year of their rookie contracts to extensions is this upcoming Wednesday, October 31st.

Will Hendo get extended? If so, how much?

my best guess is that hendo does not receive an extension, which i believe is the correct decision. we need to see him improve his level of play this year before we make a long term commitment.

Watch him breakout this season after we don't extend him and have his value skyrocket. We'd have to match some crazy offer. To me, if we can get him a four year, 20-25M extension, we do it.

As 'fatlever' pointed out in another thread, the 'Cats also have to consider extending Mully. With the uncertainty of the prospective future with this current roster outside of MKG, I doubt that they'd want to extend both Hendo & Mully. Personally, at the moment I think Mully is more valuable.

I'm guessing the same thing. I just think that if we saw an improvement to some aspect of his game, rather its his outside shooting, dribble penetration, or just doing better all around, should warrant an extension.

I agree with going with Mully rather than keeping Hendo for the long run. Despite everything we like about him, at the end of the day he's still a shooting guard who can't make a three in a league ruled by three pointers.

DeMaRr DeRoZaN just got 4 years 40 mil from the raptors.

Lets hope and pray the bobcats dont make a similar mistake with hendo. thats stupid money for a mediocre shooting guard. they now have 59 mil between derozan and fields, plus they just spent the #8 pick on a shooting guard. what are the raptors doing?

Just saw the Derozan deal, and all I have to say is wow.

call me crazy but I like the Fields deal more than Derozan's. that tells you how much I disapprove of giving Derozan 40mil.
