He actually fits.

He could get a similar offer elsewhere, but hes pretty much guaranteed 20-25 minutes a game next year with our "depth chart" up front.

I am sure McRob would like a raise from his $3.1 mil salary and he has even stated he wants to start or I am sure some decent minutes in the past. Thus, $4 mil starting is reasonable while even if he ends up a 20-25mpg player off the bench, he will earn his contract. Having a good passing big man in the second unit is invaluable.

I'd pay McBobcat 15/3.

That would break down as:

1 Years $4,524,887
2 Years $5,000,000
3 Years $5,475,113

I didn't realize mine that much of a raise. I would give him BigSlams offer, but with a team option 4th year.

Would McBob bite on the TO's?

He's been talking about a home lately, I think he goes wherever suits him long term.

He's probably going to want a long-term contract that's actually guaranteed for a few years. I've never seen a contract as big as 4/20M having team options on every year of the deal. That is what teams should do with Andrew Bynum though.

I think he takes a cheaper deal to stay with us for some form of guarantee about minutes and place in the rotation.

McBob is certainly worth a longterm deal to us imo, this isn't some form of contract ploy with his energy and enthusiasm for team ball, this is simply how he plays.

He has proven more in two months than Mully has in two seasons imo.

Bobcats, McRoberts a good fit

Josh McRoberts has bounced around the NBA (Portland, Indiana, LA Lakers, Orlando) in his first six years in the NBA, however he may have finally found a home with the Charlotte Bobcats. He was acquired on trade deadline day in February and he's done well for his new team.

McRoberts has started 14 games and he's averaging 9.3 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists. The Bobcats are 5-9 with the change and head coach Mike Dunlap is very pleased with how the forward and team have bonded in such a short time. Dunlap is hoping McRoberts re-signs with the club in the summer.

“A lot of that depends on Josh’s appetite to want to be here and how they do that upstairs. That’s not my area,” Dunlap told The Charlotte Observer. “But certainly from my view, he fits.”

The Bobcats have a bunch of free agents and from the way he's played, McRoberts should be their top priority once we get to July. - http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/nba/rumors/post?id=5572

Well to be fair McBob is at least three years older, and took a long time to prove his worth as well. Maybe by the time Mully is 26 he will do the same.

If ya'll recall, two years ago McBob put in good minutes and started games for the Lakers when Gasol or Bynum was out. And, he played pretty good with similar stats to what he has done for ya'll. Thus, I think he is worth the risk of up to $5 mil per on a long term deal.

I want McBob back and for us to just give up on Mullens. He's never going to figure it out to a point where he plays up to his potential. We're 5-9 since Charlie Day has become a starter. Use the money we'd spend on Mully's QO to pay McBob.

It's not a problem of paying the two, it's deciding whether Mullens even deserves to get paid. You can't convince me that Mullens is absolutely going to flop and fall out of the league in three years. He was given the green light to shoot far too early with his inconsistent shot. I do want to see him back here with all-around improvements to his game, and hopefully his struggles were due to his ankle injury, which was pretty bad. If we can retain him on a short-term deal, I'd do it, as we are allowed to go over the cap to re-sign our own players (Mullens, Henderson, and McBob). The only issue would be if we tried to sign someone from a different team with our cap space, in that case Mullens is clearly the first to go.

Mullens is still a cheap Qualifying offer and Diop comes off the books leaving ya'll at around $40 mil in cash while still having to meet the salary floor. I think this is an easy no-brainer.

Except we don't want him, why extend the QO to a guy we don't want?

i dunno, maaaaybe if bobcats pick up the QO, and nobody bites on him as a RFA, give him some minutes to start the season next season, if he blows up trade him for a 2nd round pick or whatever, if not then there's worse guys to have as 9th or 10th guys, and move forward. i just figure somebody will give him a slightly bigger one year deal, so he'll be gone without the bobcats having to give him an awkward talk.

Speak for yourself. I still think he'll be decent. For all the talk of him being horrible, he has had a few really really good games.

And the McBob-Mully pairing was oddly effective.

Mully is the prototypical versatile modern player - if he will engage in D and rebounding - big if - and I'm hoping his massive suckitude at the end of the season was largely due to injuries.

Those games for which you posted links are certainly enticing evidence of his upside, and warrant at least a QO.

But I would make sure to sign McBob first!

Exactly, but we can sign both since we have rights to him, the only problem is if we try to sign someone else from outside. In that case Thomas is the first to go and unfortunately, Mully is the obvious second.
