I wish he would get a job somewhere else so we could promote Silas to associate head coach. I really want to keep Silas around because he seems like hed be a perfect interim coach to give a shot at a more permanent gig if we end up firing Clifford in the somewhat near future.

On the subject of Big Pat, RealGM wiretap says he would have been the head coach at SAC if Joeger hadn't accepted the job.

MJ loves him some Cliff, he isn't getting fired in the near future.

@WojVerticalNBA
Sources: After several phone discussions with Georgetown officials, Patrick Ewing will have formal meeting on coaching job in DC on Monday.

Sources: Ewing has spent week identifying potential candidates to pursue as part of a high-level, experienced college coaching staff.

How bad will it look if Ewing gets rejected by Georgetown? FWIW, I think its gets it. Neither party would embarrass the other by getting this far only to either decline the offer or not extend an offer.

Good for Ewing. Bittersweet giving up on NBA HC dream, but has to feel good going to Georgetown.

I've been really hard on Ewing, but I honestly wish him the best. I hope he proves me wrong. It's time he got a HC job to see what he can do, even if its at the college level. The NBA will always be there if he wants to return.

Could be a blessing in disguise.

He'll have far more job security at Georgetown than he ever would in the NBA, and if he has success he can always jump back.

This is going to turn out much better for him than Sacramento would have, that's for sure.

Have to think the staff knew a transition was coming and it's why Silas stayed put when GSW was courting him.

It'll be interesting to see of our performance is affected, obviously this is a crucial time in the season to have to transition the staff.

I still have absolutely no idea if he is a good coach or not, but I'm happy for him and think its really cool he gets to coach his Alma-mater. Always liked him as a player and person. Him coaching GTown just feels right and I think its a much better move than taking an NBA job with a crappy franchise like Sacramento.

Congrats to Coach Ewing. It will be interesting to see if Clifford looks even more lost without his top guy.

Silas as the top guy might be an upgrade.

I think its got to be a good move for G'town, its got to help to have a Legend as a head coach, but this move really helps us keep Stephen Silas around

He's a legend in Georgetown and he'll get his chance there. Congrats, Patrick.

Good news for everyone involved, I think. Georgetown gets a legend back. Ewing gets to try to prove himself and stretch to learn new head coaching skills. Silas gets a promotion and can wait for the right HC offer, instead of leaving for the first lead assistant offer. Cliff won't have to worry as much about other teams poaching Silas with just a lead assistant offer to leave his staff. Hornets have Silas instead of Ewing in place if they ever need an interim fill in if Cliff is indisposed by illness or let go, and a better chance of fending off poachers for Silas. Promotion of Silas to replace Ewing helps players maintain continuity.
