It looks like the Rockets may be open to attaching Parsons to Lin so they can clear cap space for Melo.

I think Lin + Parsons fits here and we could send back enough talent to make it work if they want talent on top of cap space.

I'm a little sad because I don't think we bring back CDR. I think we sign a FA SF and only move one of Neal and Hendo (if we move either at all). FA, Neal, MKG, Taylor, Hendo / Neal is too much depth to keep CDR.

The Jazz are waaaaay under the salary floor right now, they're going to match whatever offer Hayward gets. So we need to stop barking up that tree, it's dead. Now Parsons/Lin on the otherhand, that is a possibility.

Edit: The only assets I'd send back to Houston for that deal is a future 1st, Neal, and Gee's unguaranteed contract. They wouldn't take Henderson, I'd be all over that if they would though.

I'd rather just sign Lance Stephenson and Mo Williams outright

I'd like Parsons but no way on Lin. His cap hit is huge, and enormous later. Doing that eats up everything and allows no room to sign Lance.

Here is my desired 12-man roster following the draft and free agency:

PG - Kemba, Mo Williams
SG - Lance, Hairston,
SF - MKG, Henderson, Taylor
PF - Vonleh, Zeller,
C - Jefferson, Jordan Hill, Biz

Lance is prime target #1, and gives us a young star to build around. Noah may be young, but I'd start him from day 1 to give him experience. Cody should be our 6th man big as he builds on his game and body. Hopefully he could grow into our future hybrid center after Big Al is done. I doubt we will be able to trade Hendo (Neal is a better possibility), so I project him as a role player within the tight rotation. Lance gives us lots of versatility to play in verious combinations. I like Mo Williams as our reserve PG but am open to the best option we can sign. Also picking up Jordan Hill to back up Al. He is primarily a 4 but his best role is at C. Biz could beat him out for minutes there, and hope he will, but Hill is the better player as of today.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Lin's hit is only 8 Mil and hes expiring this season. If we can't get Lance, Lin/Parsons is a great consolation prize that I would do for Miami's 2nd rounder. They wouldn't be getting a first from us.

Kemba/Lin
Henderson/Hairston/Neal
Parsons/MKG/JT
Zeller/Vonleh/Adrien
Jefferson/Biz

Here's mine after the free agency period is said and done:

1) Kemba/Harris
2) Stauskas/Hairston/Neal
3) MKG/Taylor
4) McRoberts/Vonleh/Landry
5) Jefferson/Biyombo

Trade Henderson, Gee, and Zeller for Carl Landry and Nik Stauskas. Sign Devin Harris and Josh McRoberts, and pick up Taylor's team option.

If we grab another wing. Taylor is the first one to go imo as long as CDR is still relatively cheap. Henderson after that if you can find a way to move him.

I know everyone hates on Neal but he has his purpose and possibly with a better backup PG and second unit overall he wouldn't be forced to try and create offense as much as he had to last year. He'll make the right basketball play when it's there a lot of times.

FA PG, FA SG/SF, Hairston, CDR, Neal, MKG and we could be looking at much better spacing and 3% this season.

I like the Lin/Parsons package better than signing Williams/Stephenson. Lin is 25 compared to Williams 31. Lin is a legit 6-3 200 whereas Williams is 6-1 195. Lin is more of a combo guard making the roster flexible i.e. you can move Henderson/Neal or both. Lin wasn't just a backup PG, he started when Harden goes down. Parsons can be a star here since you have an inside game in Al and defensive mindset that can make him (as well as Lin) better players. Parsons is also 6'9 so you could put him at the 4 when going small. He's just not that good defensively. As mentioned the cap hit on Lin is only 8M and for a starting PG talent that's not bad. Not only can Parsons and Lin spread the floor, they both attack the basket. Parsons is deadly on the inside-out game while Lin is deadly on the PNR, both things Big Al does well. Plus, Lin can put up points off the bench and lead the subs as he was forced to do so in Houston or go small and play Kemba and Lin together for an exciting backcourt, at least offensively.

Think of the irony if the Hornets trade Miami's future 2nd round pick from last night to Houston for Lin ... And then Houston ends up with LeBron.

Yeah, it's nice to think about. I imagine they're going to try to play him at point, we'll see what happens. I hope he can do better than McLemore, Robinson, and Fredette did in Sacramento.

why spend money on win now players like lance, mo and hill, if you also plan to start an 18 year old rookie at power forward? makes no sense.

Noah can afford to learn and grow if supported by a veteran cast. Even if he starts, his minutes would be shared with Cody, and some via Hill, depending on in-game effectiveness, fouls, etc. With two young 4's to develop, it won't happen with limited minutes. Lance may be win now, but he's primarily win tomorrow. My lineup isn't going to the finals next season. Hopefully the experience gained by all this will enable the Hornets to win big the following season.

I understand your point, and as a plan B to not getting Lance, I would be much more interested. I like Parsons for who he is, and Lin would be a very good reserve PG. However, this move complicates the issue relative to Hyphen. Most would think I am perfectly happy to do that. However, he must be given this season to determine if he can develop some consistent offensive game and a somewhat reliable shot. If teams were knocking down our door with quality trade proposals for MKG I'd listen, but clearly they are not. His value needs to rise to the point of either helping us or getting traded for some return on the dollar. I'm pulling for MKG to be our glue guy, and with some offense, his pairing with Lance, Noah, Al and Kemba would be something special.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I think our best chance next season to make the conference finals is if we sign Lance and he baloons to be better than Harden, which is possible. Harden's a better outside shooter but I like Lance better in every single aspect on SG. Much better defender, can handle the ball, decent IQ. Lance is not that bad a shooter...its possible he can work hard and be elite.
