Who should we target for backup PG?
We can grab Nwaba and clear some of our other cluttered roster positions also. I almost mentioned him earlier but wasn't sure if he was a free agent.
Kemba / Nwaba / Devonte
Lamb / Monk
Miles / Batum
Marv / Miles
Zeller / WH
Frank goes home and is Chicago's problem to extend when the time comes. Everyone wins!

Re: Who should we target for backup PG?
now that Evans, Seth, Exum, Bradley, and Felton have already been snatched up, we should get some new options. I'm going with Shabazz for sure.
Also worth noting Patrick Beverley should be very easily attainable with our trade exception. The Clippers have a crazy amount of guards, even after dumping Austin Rivers. I don't like Beverley at all after what he did to Westbrook, but it's hard to overlook how good a fit he is.

Re: Who should we target for backup PG?
Woj said on his new podcast that Charlotte is interested in Tony Parker but its up to the Spurs because they don't know what direction they are going yet
Parker may not be great but he would be great for the lockeroom as a player-coach and stop gap until Graham is ready.

Don't think we are making any signings until Kemba thing settled. We may be picking up scraps.

Can we (Is it legal?) to do a S&T for Nwaba with the Bulls and stay under the cap? It kills two birds with one stone with our clutter of SFs and Cs.
He is listed as a SG on Yahoo but can handle the ball. He averaged 7.9 PPG, 4.7 RPG, 1.5 APG and just under a SPG in only 23.5 MPG on 48 percent shooting from the field and 35 percent from three point land. I remember him having some big games for the Bulls last season. Coach Hoiberg also loved him for his defense.

You mean stay under the tax? We'd have to send out a good bit of salary to get under the cap.
We can sign him to an offer sheet of up to the MLE right now, or once the Dwight trade (finally) goes through tomorrow we can absorb him into the $7.8M trade exception we acquired.

More on I. Thomas from Woj, he says basically expect interest to pick up now, "There's not a lot of salary cap space left" it will more than likely be a one year deal as a backup to prove he's healthy. Watch the video and "read (or listen) between the lines", it sounds a lot like the Lin situation.

Re: Who should we target for backup PG?
Isiah Thomas and Malik Monk together on the court at the same time would perhaps be the worst defensive guards of all time.

Coach JB can stagger lineups. Imagine the possibilities of us having the ball in the last 30-45 seconds holding for a game-winning shot or simply a knockout blow. You go with Kemba, IT, Nic, Marvin and Zeller. I guarantee you we will get an open look! If the defense pays too much attention to Kemba then he can find IT for the drive and layup, if they pay too much attention to both then one of the above swings it out to Nic or Marv for another wide open three, you can also have one of Kemba or IT drive and dish to Cody for a slam or you always have two ball handlers that either one of them can just takeover and drive for a layup or shake and bake for the game clinching three. My point is if you have IT's medicals and they pass the test then you have nothing to lose in paying $5 mil - $8 mil (whatever the actual number is) to add that type of playmaker to your team even if it ends up being a one year rental!

What is the hold up with Napier? He hasn't met with a team yet. Holding out for starter role? Multi-year?

Maybe he's our fallback? What if other teams have just offered him the minimum; We've been in contact with him, and we're willing to beat those offers, but we're waiting on the Parker situation to play out.
I have no idea.

Re: Who should we target for backup PG?
I voted to trade mainly because I want that as part of a Harris deal if we are chasing to fight for the payoffs this season.

1) If a Beverly trade is on the table, that's what I'd prefer. Same for Lin.
2) Napier
3) Parker

I think Mitch is waiting for I. Thomas' medicals. It makes too much sense.

The man scored 50 something points in a playoff game less than two years ago with Boston! How on God's Green Earth is he past his prime?!?

Major hip injury that same playoff series, then surgery in March or April? He's also 5'9, and any edge he loses in athleticism and quickness will be devastating for him. He looked god awful last year. No reason to believe he's going to be much better.
