Re: 2025 Draft Prospect Thread
We are 4th worst right now and even still only have 25% of even landing one of Flagg or Harper. Clearly both guys would help this team out a ton, unless we have the #1 pick we aren't going to have a debate of who to take, so doing this right now for the next 6 months probably doesn't make a ton of sense.
In general, I think it is much easier to find a player like Harper who is going to be ball dominant scorer in the draft than someone like Flagg, who could provide you with a strong all around play as a defender, scorer and playmaker. Even if Flagg was only Miles Bridges but with elite defense that improves this team a ton.
In terms of adding a playmaker, it will probably be easier to go that route because it's not just Harper who fills that role. Demin, Jakucionas, Traore, and Edgecomb all would be additional playmakers in the backcourt and are projected to go in the top 10 so 50/50 shot at filling that role if we pick in the top 10.

Every Pelicans and Raptors game I watch, the more confident I am that those bums will out tank us. Just absolutely shameful game losing behavior, the definition of anti clutch. It’s gonna get disgusting in March and April as well.
Overall I don’t think the NBA would let us get Flagg. We desperately need a legit NBA forward though.

Edgecomb could make a lot of sense for Hornets he is a Oladipo type of player with his size, defensive playmaking and all around impact game.

Re: 2025 Draft Prospect Thread
Gladly roll the dice with Edgecombe, looked way ahead of schedule in the Olympics and the Oladipo comparison may be selling his athleticism short. This is some D-Wade **** right here.
Also looking real good on D and as a playmaker, though I'd also look at the bigs Sorber, Queen, and Newell if we end up picking at our accustomed Cho/Kupchak-era 10th-11thish spot.

Pelicans will be the last team that gets rewarded the top pick. They screwed up Zion the NBA won't let it happen again.

Re: 2025 Draft Prospect Thread
Edgecombe is the guy i want if we miss out on the Flagg/Harper/Bailey. He can come in and impact the game with his defense and athletic ability. He would easily come in and get over 20+ mins per game. Jaw dropping athlete, 6'5 sg, and working on and figuring out his shooting. Plays defense and can make the right pass. He would be number 1 easy in this past draft.JMAC3 wrote:Edgecomb could make a lot of sense for Hornets he is a Oladipo type of player with his size, defensive playmaking and all around impact game.

Re: 2025 Draft Prospect Thread
Tre Johnson looking more one-dimensional than I'd thought, but he's still damn good at that one dimension. 67% at the rim and 44% from midrange (less than 25% assisted) and 43% from deep (80% assisted) says he can get his own shot and still fit in without needing the ball in his hands in a heliocentric offense.

From the videos i have seen (the sample is limited), i think he's more unselfish than a real playmaker (except for himself) knowing his main attribute is his defense and motor. If the Oladipo comparison is legit, count me in.

Still not sure who's my 3rd guy yet. I like the kid from Illinois, but it's still early. Bailey lack of handle is concerning. He's not exactly the best shooter either.

Re: 2025 Draft Prospect Thread
What do you think of egor demin? He's who I like if the big 3 and Edgecombe are gone. We have had similar opinions on prospects in the past, so I thought I'd ask. I feel the same aboit Bailey. I think I'd rather have Edgecombe at this point. Bailey is 5 on my list.JustBuzzin wrote:Still not sure who's my 3rd guy yet. I like the kid from Illinois, but it's still early. Flagg. We need a real forward so he gets the nod. Also the 2 way threat we need.
Harper. Shades of harden insane skill
Edgecombe. Olidipo/Wade vibes. Love his defense. If you liked castle last year, you should LOVE Edgecombe way more.
Demin. Luka vibes
Bailey. Very talented wing but kinda just a scorer and great athlete

Could also go Tre Johnson. Great shooter, quite similar to B Miller? Can never get enough athletic, shot making wings, am I right?

Re: 2025 Draft Prospect Thread
I actually had Demin as my 3rd guy a month ago. Then I noticed he needs to get stronger. He kind of struggled vs tougher competition. I haven't watched him lately last time I checked he was injured. I mean he definitely has the skills to be a damn good player.GiggitySmalls wrote:What do you think of egor demin? He's who I like if the big 3 and Edgecombe are gone. Right now I probably still have him in my top 5. Another guy who can help take pressure off Melo from making plays. Could be that secondary ball handler this team desperately needs.

Yeah it wouldn't hurt to have a 2nd playmaker on the the floor with Melo.JustBuzzin wrote:I actually had Demin as my 3rd guy a month ago. Then I noticed he needs to get stronger. Played well his first game back from injury. No doubt whatsoever the kid can shoot, if we fall then I hope he's there at our spot at least... assuming he doesn't end up going top 3.

Re: 2025 Draft Prospect Thread
No matter who we pick it's likely gonna be one of
Flagg
Harper
Bailey
Edgecombe
Demin
Johnson
All 6 of those guys would have went 1st last year. All 6 are really good and intriguing prospects aswell. Sure probably won't All be stars but they do have star to high end starter potential.

Re: 2025 Draft Prospect Thread
Dylan Harper looks to be headed for a triple double 16pts/10assist/9reb so far.
It's nothing this kid can't do. Imagine having that kind of talent in the same backcourt as Melo.

I hope they steer clear of Bailey. Hes got basically a neutral box +/-, a negative net rating, and hes averaging less than one assist per 75 possessions. Those are some massive red flags for an NBA wing prospect, especially with the soft Rutgers schedule.

Hell no to Bailey. Too many connectors in the high lottery.
