He should be cut because you can get a guy for league min that is this good. 15 games isn't enough of a sample size to prove anything, sucks for him that he was hurt. Even if it was 9 pts, on 38% from the floor is not good enough, 32% from 3 is not good enough. Would rather have 8 mil in cap space. If he wants to resign for the league min, meh.

His value is less as a player and more as a salary commitment.

Yes, but my hope is the roster is shaken up a decent bit with potentially the Nurkics, Josh Greens, Grant Williams of the world being moved and the salary situation being a different equation... but yes as it stands if we do nothing then it is likely Okogie is back vs cutting him with the current benefits being low.

please jeff. keep okogie. best wing defender on team and can get to rim on offense. he's not perfect, but decent depth piece.

Wow…gives the Hornets time to put together some things without impacting his deal.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Good sign because if we're competing, we need to keep him instead of letting him walk for nothing, or buy time to work on trades where his matching salary is bundled in there as an expiring contract.

They're busy. Not tanking.

Or else he'd be cut, no questions asked.

Sounds to me like they're working on something and want to keep the funds open.

Usually in this scenario the option will likely be declined unless the salary fits into a trade we conjure by July 15.

So he's probably getting traded or not coming back. There's also a small chance we sign him to a multi-year deal at a lower number per annum.

Hopefully no more than 2 years as he is at best an OK defensive option off the bench.

It would be good if we can ship off him and/or NSJr and Mann for a center. Draft compensation as well depending on how good the big we get is.

All this talk about surrounding free lancers like Lamelo and Brandon with guys who create great structure and then you waive a player like Okogie: hypocrisy

Blame the Dinwiddie and Plumlee signings for this.

As a reminder (because I forgot and had to go look it up), we acquired Okogie in January along with 3 2nds (DEN 2026, DEN 2031, PHX 2031) for Nick Richards and one second (2025 least favorable of DEN and PHI). We pretty much needed to get rid of that 2nd considering we already had 2 other 2025 2nds.

very much disagree with this move, at least at face value. this is what happens when you try to roster 4 rookies. sion better fill some shoes quickly.

Some of my best nicknaming work for nothing. I hope he gets to play somewhere, definitely has value. Sharp dresser. I'll miss him on the roster.
