Kon is potentially an elite sniper with secondary playmaking skills.

It's been a long time since the organization struck gold on a late pick. Maybe the last one was Tobias Harris in the 2011 NBA Draft but he was 19th not 29th. That was the Charlotte Bobcats.

Maybe Desmond Bane level gold?

That dude has short arms.

and harris wasnt actually drafted by charlotte. predraft trade with sacto - sjax and 19 for 7, which became biz.
best late 1st pick since 2004 has been dudley, who we traded in 1st year - not a lot of competition - nsj, ajinca, kai, marco trade

wow we really do only have 4-5 non-lottery 1st round picks since expansion... brutal

It's amazing how a perpetually rebuilding team has also been bad at collecting picks lol

Our non lottery draft history is actually way more hilarious

we traded for all those picks used on -> dudley, ajinca, kai and nsj - None of those were picks originally owned by the Hornets.

The 3 years that we made the playoffs we traded away those picks
2010 - we traded that pick the previous year, 2009, for the pick that ended up being used for ajinca. that pick became -> luke babbit
2014 - this was the pick that we traded to acquire tyrus thomas back in 2009 -> became nurkic
2016 - That idiotic trade we made on draft day for Marco Belinelli with our 22nd pick going to the Kings who selected -> malichi richardson

The only other non Lotto pick that we have had during that stretch was 2022 15th pick used on Mark Williams. That was the spin the bottle Luckiest draft pick in the world that we acquired for trading Devante Graham when the Pelicans won in the play-in to gift us that pick rather than a 2nd rd pick.

tldr: The post expansion Hornets have never drafted a player outside of the lottery, first round, using their own pick.

I think McNeely has the potential to be the best non lottery pick of the 2.0 era Hornets. Maybe even all time. And I'm not concerned about his standing reach given how he looked playing basketball.

It’s a good thing. Watch the first 10 minutes of their little YouTube thingy. Liam is going to be good.

Man, that was really well done. I am impressed with the organization. Everyone seemed intelligent, committed, knowledgeable, motivated and thorough. Sure it was basically an ad but the truth was in there to see too.
From the owners on down they are all working together with a vision. Yeah, we still need more talent to be good good, but I really think we are heading in the right direction with actual DIRECTION, lol. Finally.

To go from the Jordan org crew of mediocre and generally not so smart yes men types to these guys is refreshing.

Liam seems like he is gonna be a playa! Kon has an aura too. Looking forward to watching this team grow up over the next few years and start seeing some real sustainable improvement.

I liked seeing Kon D up Kemba in clips. I’m sure he got cooked but it was good for him.
