Drafting a player primarily for having an "NBA Body" is a lesson to be learned. Biz is a bigger bust than Greg Oden who, suffered from injuries, and not for his lack of talent. Make way, Thabeet....Biz will see you soon.

i can see the headlines now "Hornets agree to a 4 year, 8 million dollar extension with former lottery pick Bismack Biyombo" The deal has "catching basketball" clauses in the contract that could lower the amount to 4 mil over the span of the deal.
I honestly would not be surprised if he spent time in the D League next season. Hell, I would send him down there right now. Give him a ton of playing time. I haven't given up on him completely, but hardly any improvements in over 2 seasons.. And Lord knows we gave him the keys to the starting job the first two seasons but he didn't capitalize on that at all.
I can't remember in which thread I posted my original train of thought but it was much better than what a hungover version of me will do right now but anyway..
D-League would be very bad for Biz, imo. We need a real farm system if we want to develop our players that way. We're among the teams who share a D-League team with a dozen others and thus it has been pretty much useless for all of us. They have a roster and system of their own down there in Fort Wayne and NBA teams and players are concerned that if they would be sent down, they wouldn't get the proper playing time and proper coaching.
That's not to mention that I think Biz would be just as lost in the D-League as he is here. Unless we have our own coach down there, nobody would give him the opportunity to learn on offense by giving him the chance to do something.

so you are comparing a 7th overall no college pick to a 1st and 2nd overall college experience pick?
nice.....

I don't see a future where Biz is not a flop. I think he'll struggle to find a career in the NBA. And it pains me to say that.
With that said, I think he should see the time that Maxiell gets on the floor.

Through 3 games Maxiell has managed a negative PER. Can't imagine Biz wouldn't be better but then again I'm not in the message sending business so what do I know.

Re: "Guys?" The Bismack Biyombo Thread
I firmly believe that if Biz were given playing time the doom and gloom would not hang nearly as heavily over him. He is a limited player but he does have a place on the court as a plus rebounder and defensive specialist. The Baby Dwight dreams are over, obviously, but he's significantly more valuable than Thabeet.
I don't understand Clifford's hard-on for Maxiell. He is a god awful player, he gets killed on defense and misses bunny shots when on offense. His veteran experience hasn't done jack to keep this team from having long stretches of looking unfocused. Maybe he's in the right spots and Biz isn't and that makes a difference in Clifford's view...except for the fact that even when in those spots Maxiell can't do anything even borderline productive. Maybe Biz is really a dick in real life(and the social media persona is misleading), or has no interest in being coached up, or is the last man in the gym and first man out, obviously there is no way to know. Nonetheless Biz should be getting Maxiell's minutes at minimum, even if the team sees no future in him, just to showcase for trade purposes. I still believe that Biz in 10-15mpg can help the team and show enough value to at least be a mediocre trade asset. Biz on the bench means Maxiell killing us on both ends + Biyombo's trade value diving through the floor.
It is an extremely puzzling situation from all angles. Biz should be playing, whether he's got a future here or not, and yet he can't sniff the floor. I trust Clifford overall, but in this specific instance he has a blind spot.

How do you figure that? His situation here is like Omer Asik's situation in Chicago, except Biz is 22 and Asik was 25 in his last year in Chicago. Compare Biz's numbers last year and Asik's final year in Chicago and show me a difference. Chicago Asik is a marginally better rebounder, but actually appears worse offensively and defensively.

Re: "Guys?" The Bismack Biyombo Thread
unless biz did something in training camp to end up in the doghouse, then it seems that cliff was not fond of playing biz coming into the season. if that is the case, certainly cho must have known how cliff felt about biz. why not try to sign an actual backup center in that case?

Re: "Guys?" The Bismack Biyombo Thread
It makes 0 sense to play Maxiell over Bismack, he is just as bad if not worse on offense, he is smaller, he isn't as good a defender/rebounder, maybe Clifford just doesn't like Bismack or he is trying to send him a message (maybe stop crossfit and work on your game) or maybe hes just playing Maxiell over him because he trusts him to not screw up more, who knows.

For all we know Bismack (knowing his funny ways) cracked a "Clifford the Big Red Dog" joke and benching Bismack is just Cliffords way of giving him a timeout.

Re: "Guys?" The Bismack Biyombo Thread
I think Clifford just think or thought that Maxiell would be better than Biyombo as the reserve center, and now it's just a matter of how long will Clifford continue to ride his belief in Maxiell over Biyombo. All Clifford need is one half decent game by Maxiell to justify his stance and even a broken clock is right twice a day

because we signed him only at the 28th of September. of course, there were better candidates out there but we seemingly have gone the route of signing the established veteran who'll know the league and has proven himself as a hard-worker, even if we're not sure how much he has left in the tank.
thing is this wasn't no 39-year-old Marcus Camby we signed. the other 29 teams wouldn't have picked Maxiell up since he doesn't have anything left in the tank.

Good point fats.
I think Clifford is teaching Biz a lesson and hasn't abandoned him. It just doesn't make sense that he sees Maxiell as the answer at the backup 5 spot.

The question is if Clifford knew he didn't want Biz in the rotation over the summer, then why wait until 9/28 to sign a backup to replace him.

we signed Maxiell because of Vonlehs injury, i doubt we would've signed anyone if he didn't get hurt

I think he would've signed another backup big because he was on record talking about how Noah needed time to develop, and one injury to any of our bigs would have required that Noah start regularly seeing minutes.
Plus that further supports the point that he isn't anti-Biz.
