If we trade Hendo for a draft pick, I'd rather it be for next year's draft. Depending on how Portland finishes the year, if we add another we could potentially have 4 picks in next year's "loaded" draft. Package them together and walk out with a pair of blue-chippers.
Hornets Picks by Year
2021: Bouknight, Jones, Thor, Lewis

Protection on future 1st* (to NYK); 2nds
2022: 1-18; CHA (31-55), TOR 2 (55-60)
2023: 1-16; BOS (GH)
2024: 1-14; BOS (GH)
2025: 1-14; CHA (31-55)
*Becomes two 2nds if unconveyed

It appears we are not interested in resigning him so we better try to get something for him.

Yeah, same here. We drafted Gerald 12th in 2009, a draft that produced talent like Griffin, Harden, Tyreke, Rubio, Curry, Jennings, etc. A mid to low 1st rounder in this draft is not going to produce equal talent to Hendo IMO.

As per Wojnalolski:

The Charlotte Bobcats are offering guard Gerald Henderson to teams for a first-round pick.

His contract is up and it adds an asset. I'd be happy with a trade of that nature.

I hope we don't trade Gerald so much more garbage on this team I'd rather see go....think we are about to make franchise mistake number 1,009. The kid can play and doesn't get enough credit, not his fault he's played for a coach that hates rookies, a coach that didn't coach and a coach that shouldn't be coaching this team...not to mention bum teammates and a inept franchise that has no clue about talent.

Assuming we trade him for a 1st we have to flip these assets for a good veteran soon. Were already almost too young.

I agree. He's never been put in a situation to shine. Ship Gordon out, and he's got the position practically to himself with Sessions and Taylor playing spot minutes as his backup. I hope we ask for a TON for him, and if we can't hit a home run deal, we just keep him. Gordon has to be on the way out with what happened this past week.

The fact it says "a first round pick" and not "a lottery pick" has me worrying that we're just talking to the likes of San Antonio or some other playoff team.

Keep Henderson unless its for a really nice pick and let him and Taylor back up McLemore/Muhammed and MKG for the next few years. Dunlap played Taylor over Henderson a ton earlier this season for no reason other than "developing players". He got a raw end this season.

I'm not sure anyone will give a first for Hendo.

I will have to change my name too!

Come to think of it I do remember the Magic announcers saying he could be auditioning for them but no way we get their pick.

They got other picks in the Dwight deal, but they're all late 1sts and 2nds. The best pick of the bunch would probably be conveyed in 2017.

I would probably give them Hendo + for Vucevic, that guy is a rebounding machine. If Bismack can ever just rebound like him I'd be pleased.

Best Case is that Brooklyn cant find a way to get Josh Smith. So they end up turning to us for the Gordon/Humphries trade.

That opens up plenty of minutes for MKG and Taylor.

I wouldn't be surprised if we end up getting some offers for Sessions as well.

I do not think I would trade Hendo for anything outside a late lottery pick.

I kind of a have a feeling we are going to pull a move out of left field. Something we say we wouldn't like now, but after it happens we all agree that it was a good move.

Im excited for something to happen.

We have a lot of guys who could be moved that arent getting talked about that could be used to take on a larger contract aka Diop or TT.

Why would Orlando trade Vucevic. He is one of the few bright spots on that team, let alone trade him for 2 guard which is their best position with Affalo and Redick, even if they dealt JJ why would you want Hendo instead of Vucevic. I understand why people like Vucevic, but you have to put yourself in the other teams shoes before you think about a trade.

I saw a video that speculated that Vucevic was available, I know they wouldn't do it straight up, I would even give them a protected first for him.

Charlotte out: Gordon
Chicago out: Boozer
Golden State out (need to cut about 800k on salar to avoid luxury tax): Biedrins, Landry
Toronto out: Bargnani

Brooklyn in: Boozer (let's say Smith is not available to them anymore)
Charlotte in: Humphries
Chicago in: Gordon, Landry (assuming they deal Hamilton to solve luxury tax danger)
Golden State in: Bargnani (13M out, 10M in)
Toronto in: Biedrins(shorter contract), Blatche(to get someone to play)

Where am I off? Who needs more? Who needs less? Who can't do that because of X? Some players may be seen as negative value by some and a positive by others. I tried to stay away from picks as some teams are not free to trade them (yet).

Boozer is hot trash and no way do they get BG+Landry, other than that this is a great trade imo.

How about we add Diop(Who goes to Chicago for lux tax purposes) and Chicago adds Rip Hamilton(Who goes to Brooklyn?)

Brooklyn out: Humphries (and Blatche)
Charlotte out: Gordon (and Diop)
Chicago out: Boozer (and Rip)
Golden State out (need to cut about 800k on salar to avoid luxury tax): Biedrins, Landry
Toronto out: Bargnani

Brooklyn in: Boozer and Hamilton
Charlotte in: Humphries and Landry
Chicago in: Gordon and Diop
Golden State in: Bargnani (13M out, 10M in)
Toronto in: Biedrins(shorter contract), Blatche(to get someone to play)

Chicago may have to add another filler if they close to the tax.

The funny thing is, I posted it on Trade board and from responses people like it for Toronto and Brooklyn, thinking we are getting too much and that Chicago and Warriors do poorly, that Landry shouldn't be lost like that and W's just need to shed two of their minimal contract to avoid luxury (fair enough). The thing is Brandon Rush make the same money as Landry but 1) doesn't have the same value I guess 2) I don't see anyone needing a swingman (even for Chicago they wanted rather an inside player on trade board).

Basically I wanted to do something around those big contracts on trade block, not hot commodities like Smith, Millsap and see if there is something making sense for multiple teams while keeping us involved.
Biedrins 9M, straight dumping
Bargnani 10M, depends on POV player, bad contract really (3yrs)
Humphries 12M
Gordon 12.4M - now it depends on how much leverage others think they have on us
Boozer 15M - see Bargnani, but some will still think of as a star (Nets ready to throw money anyway, a team willing to absorb money)

I answered the question but I forgot to state that I really like the trade idea premise.

I think it's realistic and every team will be happy with it but the Nets and us need some incentive to help accomodate other teams with salary restrictions etc, otherwise we'd just do the deal between us and them.

Avery Bradley?

Sessions surely must have good value right now.

Might need to add a pick (POR) or a pick from a Henderson or Sessions trade to make this work.

We get rid of Ben Gordon's contract and acquire DeJuan Blair.
