That's just Holiday doing what Holiday do, not to take anything away from Beverly as a tenacious defender, but Holiday lead the league in turnovers last season for a reason.

brings me to my question...

which 5 players would you put on your all "players who i would hate to guard me because they are relentless, never take plays off and hound you for 48 minutes, no matter the score, the setting, the importance of the game" team?

i've got beverley, tony allen, mkg, faried and noah. who else?

Avery Bradley, Luol Deng, Paul George & a pre-ACL injury Rajon Rondo off the top of my head...and Mike Conley Jr. is pretty pesky as well, as far as players that are not on your list. Jimmy Butler might be in consideration too. I wouldn't know how to put my top 5, but Tony Allen would definitely be at the top of my list

Lol I saw that earlier. Rivers will bench him in a heartbeat if he keeps that up.

what other ex-bobcats were tons of fun to watch flounder on teams after leaving charlotte? if he keeps it up mullens will be one of the best, until he's glued to the end of the bench like adam morrison.

I'm guessing that Mullens will be tops, but - man - was I rooting for the Tyrus Thomas to NYC rumors to be true. Knicks fans would have had a heyday with T2.

I guess DJ doesn't count - that's just not fun to watch - he's a train wreck. A sad, sad, train wreck.

Muggsy Bogues. I can't imagine how a point guard could enjoy a regular season game with Bogues hounding you all game long.

It's safe to say that I won't miss him. I see not even Doc Rivers and Chris Paul can get to him to make him a smarter player.

Diop with 2 rebounds in 3 minutes.

Give him 36 minutes and he will be averaging 24 a game. 8-)

Speaking of Diop, I looked at his stats: in his last 4 years with us, he scored a TOTAL of 99 points. TOTAL.

He also has 34 more career fouls than career points. Is he the worst player in the history of the game with more than 10 years in the league? I love Diop and everything, but those stats are mind-blowing.

And me and Sachmo cherish each one of those 99 points.

But yeah. He's a part of the immortal "more fouls than points in a season" bunch. I remember having this in one of the columns I did for a Latvian news site.

The criteria was that the player had to play at least 41 games during which he averaged 15 mpg so he'd be an actual rotation player.

It mostly had shot blockers who couldn't contribute in any other way. Gana Diop, George Johnson, Charles Jones, Jim McIlvaine, Manute Bol and unfortunately my own Andris Biedrins who was the only player of the 12 who have achieved this who could actually score at some point in his career.

So I guess that if you want to actually find someone worse stats-wise than Gana Diop who has the longevity along with it, it would one of the other guys on that list.

I nominate Charles Jones.

Jones: 15 seasons, 726 games, 19.4mpg, 2.5ppg, 4.5rpg, 1.6bpg, 2.9 fouls per game.
Gana: 12 seasons, 601 games, 14.0mpg, 2.0ppg, 3.7rpg, 1.0bpg, 2.0 fouls per game

Per36 it's:
Jones: 4.7ppg, 8.3rpg, 2.9bpg, 5.3 fouls per game.
Gana: 5.1ppg, 9.5rpg, 2.7bpg, 5.2 fouls per game.

Both played the same role of a defensive anchor during their primes. The only difference is that an old Charles Jones was on the '95 Rockets and gave them valuable minutes by defending Shaq while Hakeem was resting. He did a great job for someone who was near 40. Meanwhile, Gana could have been the defensive backbone to the 2006 NBA champions (think for a second how crazy that sounds) if it wasn't for the shady refereeing. So in the end Jones wins this argument only because of Stern's conspiracy to keep Diop down. Not enough people talk about this but me and Sachmo will start raising awareness once he retires and is unfairly kept out of the Hall of Fame because the refs cost him a ring.
