the whole point of not extending him was to let his play and the market dictate his value. His play gives him a nice boost but I still have my doubts the Pistons are maxing him and tying up their cap space for 72 hours while all the other FAs fly off the board before we match, just to inconvenience the Charlotte Hornets of all teams.

Seems like the right move to me. Don't just offer a max.

Agreed.

Why bid against yourself?

5y/170 is bonkers town so yeah, he's not getting a max from us.

So we are going with option 1 from my post earlier. At worst he gets 4/130

Goodluck to any team willing to offer him that kind of deal. Good grief.

Anyone here watched a lot of Dejounte Murray? Could he play the 2 guard beside Lamelo. Thinking of solid S&T ideas.

Bridges Max* Offers

Other team= 4/130 or 32.5 million aav
Hornets 5 year= 5/173 or 34.6 million aav
Or Realistic 5 year offer from Hornets= 5/150 or 30 million aav

Hornets are smart to just let him go sign a 4/110-130 deal and then match. Not much benefit for us just handing him the bag for no reason. Either way Bridges is going to get overpaid because of supply and demand, this FA class sucks and 24 yr old wings who can drop 30 points every now and again don't hit market often.

Collins is signed on a 5 year 125 mill contract with Atlanta, I don't think he deserves more than him really.

Miles is the better player IMO.

Always take the 3/4 guy over the 4. Miles is more versatile and more explosive scorer.

miles is versatile with his driving and passing, but Collins rebounds and blocks shots better.

I wouldn't really call Collins at a shot blocker at just 1 per game. I just value guys who can create own shot and shot for others.

Hawks lack that type of guys, Hornets don't realize how much Bridges adds a downhill attack guy.

Mikal Bridges, who's overall better play than Miles, has a 4/90.9 contract. Miles doesn't deserve to get paid more than him. We know we'll have to overpay because we're a small market team, but anything close to or over 30M per year would be horrible.

4/100m would be fair.

4/125 is probably what he'll end up getting.

Hi all, Piston fan here. After reading the last couple of pages, I'm more confused as ever. We got cap space and could use a young forward. I'm concerned about all the off court stuff, but maybe it's overblown? Regardless, I don't think we are going to give him an offer. It seems our GM is taking his time on the rebuild, and we'll probably just run w Bagley for a lot less money. But someone is going to give him an offer. You guys should just be patient and match. Even if that pisses him off a bit, it will still be a huge contract and he'll get over it.

Yes, we're expected to match any offer on Miles. He'll just be pissed because he's been conditioned by those **** at Klutch Sports that he's worth the max.

I'd much rather 4/130 than 5/160, which is what I'm thinking we offer

That makes a lot of sense. I understand players trying to get all they can, but teams need to say "no" more often. Wall, Hardin, Kyrie, Simmons - so many toxic contracts floating around. Not everyone is worth the max.

Wall’s contract was NEVER “toxic”. He wanted to play.

You’re right. I guess “high risk” is probably a better term. Regardless of whether it’s a decline in play or an injury, if any of these players can’t play at an All Star level, it puts your organization in a hole for 5 years. Not easy to maneuver with a bad max contract.
