I'm thinking Emmy for Lin. Best portrayal of an non-accented ethnic role by a basketball player with ancestors from the country of origin, commenting on an iconic 80's movie that none of us liked.

Jeremy is a funny dude. I like him in his other collaboration with Randall Park the most.

The spread offense with so manny shooters sure helps. I used to fear batum so more than lillard when he was in the blazers. So glad that he is in the same team now. Are the hornets lineup special in a sense that we have so many stretch bigs in our roster?

I'm agnostic, so I needed some way to express my amazement at the sheer serendipity of the pattern of improvements accumulated and the way they've been catalyzed by adversity

And I am genuinely intrigued to see the way Cliff is growing Lin's game by adding these new elements to it that haven't been utilized in past seasons, either because Cliff does understand the nuances of Lin's game, or because Lin has just added another dimension as he's matured as a player, with this new off-ball cutting.

But maybe I'm being premature, and these are just random preseason experiments and not indicative of the way Cliff will use him during the season.

It's truly unreal. Now (or later) he just needs to come full circle, atone for his original sins: be able to tone down on his TO, play well consistently and be able to fight thru screens better (maybe he can learn that from MKG?) and be a true PG that facilitates and racks up assists.

It's really an inspiring story how he can fight thru adversity.

Kswiss wrote:Al Jefferson is my bball hero even though some people hate on him, he literally is me as a basketball player with 5 more inches of height lol

Nice, likewise with Lin and me, he's 3 inches taller than I am.

(It is nothing against Lin fans; I just don't understand the whole , for lack of better term, "Fan Boy" mentality when it comes to individual humans ie athletes, artists, politicians, etc.)

Well, there had been billions of John Lennon, Eminem, Elvis, Springsteen, Tupac, Biggie, MLK, Toscanini, Callas, Ali etc. fans.......nothing unusual.

Vae Victus wrote:Laker's fan and huge fan of Lin here following up on him. Was estactic we got him last season but then turned to rage as we proceeded to piss him away with Byron Scott's (Please Use More Appropriate Word) sets and Kobe's ball hoggery. Then the full on tank came

It's the Steve Nash trade's fault. If Lin had played normal, there would have been no Russell. Understandable decision.

Let me try and help you understand by giving you some analogies.

Frank Robinson was big for black people. He opened the door for black baseball players to play in MLB. We all know his history.

Manny Pacquiao is big for Filipinos. Obviously, he's the most popular athlete from the Phillipines and don't be surprise if he becomes president of that country someday.

Rocky Balboa was big for white Italian Americans when he beat that steroid-pumping Russian Dolph Lundgren in that epic battle in Rocky IV. That boxing match basically ended the Cold War.

Jeremy Lin is big for the same reasons as those three mentioned above. Lin will go down in history as one sports greatest icons. And Charlotte fans now get to see him in person. I'm actually jealous that a little city like Charlotte gets this icon.

Lol. I lIke Lin and all, but him going down as one of sports biggest icons literally made me giggle. Maybe over in China, but not even remotely close in the states.

I think he is referring to in China, similar to how Longley was a big icon in Australia for a while

I'm neither impressed or disturbed. Flat out annoyed at times. I do like new fans of the team though.

Even though I like Lin and wish/expect him to play well, part of me wants to see what will happen on here if he plays poorly once the season actually starts lol. Him playing bad with Kemba playing slightly worse might cause the board to completely implode.

Lin can do more than just score points, if his shots are not falling, he will be focusing on defending and play making and help the team win in other ways.

With Lin, Kemba and Nic creating opportunities for the hornets and having Al down low as insurance in case outside shots don't fall. The team is complete. Looking forward to a surprising season.

Oh, I'm absolutely certain there will be some stinkers in the course of a season. It'll happen to every player and team. I just hope the end result is still making the playoffs, which is precarious enough as it is.

Lin is a sports icon and Frank Robinson is the reason blacks played in MLB.

I'm sorry, it was a well intended post and all but it's just funny to me.

The team is not complete. Losing MKG's defense was a major blow, and there is no rim protector when Al sits.

One or two injuries to key guys and even the current longshot chance of making the playoffs can go out the window.
