Re: Ball Don't Lie: The LaMelo Ball Thread
Too bad he won't be ready Friday since I'll be in town to watch them against the Cavs.
Wonderful news though

Seems like we could see him by one of the Celtics games or Pistons games

Only seven days of rehab after being in a cast for a month seems a bit hasty to me.

I'm guessing they'll probably bring him back into the rotation slowly

He was shooting 3's/warming up before the game on Sunday (with the cast on) when I was down there. Missing them mostly as he was shooting pretty much one handed chest level push shots. Hopefully, that gets tuned up quickly.

Interview with LaMelo. He is non-committal on a return time, which is prudent:

Really hoping to get an update on LaMelo at some point today. JB said during the postgame yesterday that he'd "know more about him tomorrow"...plus we found out he was cleared to return to basketball activities exactly one week ago, with an estimation he could be back in the lineup within 7-10 days. Fingers crossed!

Re: Ball Don't Lie: The LaMelo Ball Thread
Sounds good to me, he's making progress but the team is making sure he takes his time. I was happy to hear Rozier bring up the fact he counseled Melo to wait until 'everything is 100' during his pregame interview on the ESPN broadcast.
Sounds like he is surrounded by people with the proper perspective. If he can fully heal and help us this year + playoffs then awesome, but the most important thing is his future.

I definitely don’t want to see LaMelo try to come back too soon. If he’s 100% then let’s go. 19 years old and he is our entire future right now. Need to be cautious so if he’s not fully there just wait until he is.

Re: Ball Don't Lie: The LaMelo Ball Thread
Ball looked a lot sharper tonight than I expected. Great to see him bouncing around the court again. Tomorrow night will be Miami, which is two games ahead in the standings. It's important not to fall to the ninth or tenth seed.

Ball is just a different type of player. Unbelievable feel for the game, everything just changes when he's on the floor.

I still can’t get over that pass early in the game. Just incredible.

He good. He realllllllllllllllllllll good.
It’s going to take a minute for everyone to remember what it’s like playing with him and to be ready at all times and to get in the right spots, because he will find them.
Everyone except Miles that is. Those two seemed to pick up right where they left off.

Re: Ball Don't Lie: The LaMelo Ball Thread
so at what point do we acknowledge ball as the best rookie player in our franchise history (since the bobcats inception). The only other rookie in bobcats/hornets history that I remember impressing was Okafor and even then everyone joked about how robotic he was and our team was godawful.
Devilzsidewalk wrote:no, the DB's will just be thinking "damn, I thought that was going to be a run!" as they easily recover to intercept a Ponder pass 10 yards off the mark

I think he earned that title a long time ago!!
You are right, Okafor was consistent and reliable, but didn’t have the overall impact that LaMelo has had.
