Not any more. He's more like a poor man's Wilt.

This is decidedly true. Although balling in prison helps Mully's gangsta cred.

He has started a competition via his twitter, who makes the best poster gets a signed jersey from him.
He is good for PR.

no, primoz was a better defender and rebounder.
I believe Mullens will indeed be better over time. His defense and rebounding are lacking now, but he's shown flashes. He just needs to apply himself to that part of the game, which may come with maturity. He needs to get stronger this offseason and get some extra tutoring on playing low. Combine better play in the post and on D with his outside game and you've got BETTER!
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: Taint Free Since 2009 - The Byron Mullens Thread
Interesting article by Bonnell about Mullens and his return to the bench.
http://blogs.charlotte.com/inside_the_n ... otion.html
"Mullens playing off the bench isn’t a demotion. It’s a do-over."
"It was too much, too soon for Mullens to go from a guy constantly sent to the D-League to a guy starting at center for an NBA team. Handy as it might be to claim the Bobcats are a D-League team, this transition for Mullens had to be as rattling as it was gratifying."
"Mullens is a great kid who’s a long way from figuring all this out. When they decided to start him, he accepted the challenge, but also acknowledged he likes watching the first 5-8 minutes of a game to evaluate the action, and how he could contribute."

So what happened to Bismack being the backup center? Silas is totally lost

Like it or not, Diop is our best defensive big. Bismack will likely pass him in the future, but even over weight and unfit Diop is the best we got. Sad I know.
He is easily our best rebounder as well.
I wouldn't start BB yet.

Re: Taint Free Since 2009 - The Byron Mullens Thread
silas isnt messing around this week. i like that he is holding players accountable this season and not letting them fall into bad habits or get away with play that is detrimental to the team. first it was benching diaw, second it was taking over play calling for kemba and now pulling mullens back to the reserves. all three moves were the right moves.
mully will be fine. he got a real good glimpse at what it takes to succeed as a starting center. hopefully he will take that experience and build on it over the next few months and into the summer.
- reboound better
- box out
- defend the rim
- rotate on defense
- work on post game
he has all the physical tools needed and i feel he also has the work ethic.
as for biyombo, its too early for him to start. he is best served playing off the bench in 5 to 7 minute spurts. he will get his chance soon enough.

I guess we need to develop Diop..he's still in his 20s for another 4 days. he still has potential!

Gana shoots buzzer-beating jump-shots! He just need to learn from McGee how to throw alley-oops to his PF (preferably Mexicat).

At first when I read this I thought no way could it be true, as Diop's always been a mediocre rebounder. But you could certainly argue that he is the best on this team, which is embarrassing. Clearly, the Okafor years have spoiled me.
Humble yourself.

Its been pretty sad when we look at the box scores on some of these games recently and our leading board guys are snaring only 6 rebounds.

So, has the shine worn off? Has he been found out? Was his 1st few weeks with us the exception and not the rule?
