LeBron's not that bad of a post defender against bigger guys, so I guess it would depend on the center who would play alongside Bron and Durant. Hard to determine whether the pound it down low style would win between these two or the fast tempo game would.

I'll let Bill Simmons describe my next pick:

The guy who nails the most categories on a "here's what I want from my dream Point Guard" checklist: scoring, crunch-time scoring, passing, penetration, quickness, leadership, competitiveness, toughness, defense, ability to run a fast break and willingness to sacrifice his own numbers to get everyone else involved.

I want guys who would go out of their way to dominate their opponent. Who would step on the floor and tell their matchup "I'm going to embarrass you today". I also want the one guy who could beat MJ. That's why I'm picking Zeke (84-85) and putting him in the March Madness category

Seems like the biggest complaint against my team last year was the lack of a high level PG. So I didn't want to risk missing out on the inevitable PG run (one PG in the first 14 picks)

Being a great fit for Shaq is just icing

Hard to decide between Isiah and Stockton. Depends on which bigs you have, I'd say.

I would rather try running them as a 2/3 or 1/3 combo. In the modern NBA, Lebron can hold his own. But some of these legends are going to take a lot out of him.

Run LeBron at the 1 or Durant at the 2 and try to exploit the height advantage.

I'd agree. LeBron might be the only guy who could guard Magic at the 1 consistently.

Also slam chose the year when Lebron had about 8 assists per game. Which is alright for an all star point guard, though not really super elite point guard status.

The main difference is Stockton was very, very good while Zeke was great. Stock never really had a transcendent moment and was instead really good for a long time while Zeke could be counted on to take his game to the next level and make something happen.

In other words, Stockton never had a Game 6 of the 88 Finals

I'd say the main difference was that Stockton once had an assist rate of nearly 58% percent, which is monstrously high, and in 88 Thomas had an assist rate of 35%. Stockton was just a different kind of player...

Because he's pretty much shoehorned into a p&r offense and was never relied on to be a scorer. Of course he was a different player. He wasn't as good either.

I think he was equally good, just at some different kinds of things.

And with that, the discussion ends.

In the years chosen Stockton averaged more assists and steals and Isaiah averaged more points and rebounds, they are both so close it just depends on team fit. When I saw I would have the chance to get either I was ecstatic. I think Stockton does fit in better with Kobe and can see Thomas fitting in better with Shaq. I think both teams won with their picks.

I'm not saying you made a bad pick by any stretch. I had him 3rd on my list and would've taken him if Isiah wasn't on the table.

I just think in the grand scheme of things, looking at both players as more than just statistical values, that Isiah comes out ahead due to the IT factor. But just because he's better, doesn't mean Stockton is chopped liver. Just like saying MJ is better than Kobe isn't a knock on Kobe

I've had several different strategies on how I would build my side, but then thought stuff it, I will just pick the players who I loved to watch.

So to create an offensive nightmare for your opposition teams I'm picking 04-05 Dirk Nowitzki. All NBA.
26.1 pts, 9.7 rebs, 3.1 assists.

i'm with swedd on this debate about pgs. if i had to choose prime isiah or prime stockton to build my team around i would choose isiah and thats hard for me to say because i loathe isiah.
