I'm ready to go all in for Klove now. Marvin/Lamb + 11 + future 1st, as part of 3-team with Cavs and Pacers, and Love comes to Charlotte. Had to use Lamb in the trade, since Sessions part of my deal for Beverley.

Kemba/Beverley/Weber
Batum/MLE
MKG/Graham
Love/Frank/JOB
Dwight/Cody

Wing depth is an issue, but that 1st 8 is legit and all locked in for a few years. Cho and scouts would have to get busy working Swarm for some filler, maybe find a vet to come for depth on min, use MLE on 3D, hit on 31. Hope we can develop Graham into a rotation player. Sure, it caps us out and we don't have much room to grow by losing picks, but that team is a top 4 team in East at least for next 2 years. Gets us thru ASG to end of Kemba's contract. Then we can re-evaluate the situation in summer 2019.

Normally I'd agree, but today rumors were floating around that Rockets were looking to trade him to a team that can absorb his salary in order to make a run at a free agent. Helping them clear salary +31, seems like a fair deal in that sense.

That would be a steal. Adding Bev and Dwight while retain our cores will make us a contender in the east instantly.

Very fair question. Hopefully Dwight is coming around on the new norms of the league and realizes the days of back to the basket bigs are dead (for now). He was talking about taking 3s in order to help become more current, perhaps he's also on board with becoming a monster pick setter. Dude really should be one of the best in the league in that part of the game, if only he embraced it.

fatlever wrote:I desperately want to keep Cody. I'd only entertain trading him in a blockbuster to land Kemba a legit #1B two way scorer. Cody and Dwight are both injury prone. We need depth at center to play how Cliff wants this team to play.

What would be the best news ever would be Cody finally developing a 3pt shot. Every **** big man coming into the draft can make 3s. There's no reason Cody shouldn't be able to add some 3pt range this summer. I believe in him adding that shot before MKG.

As far as upgrading the wing, Batum seems unlikely to be moved given his massive contract. MKG seems the most logical trade choice.

While Charlotte's high on Zeller and would be reluctant to trade him for the exact reasons you've cited above, I'm certain they'd send him out in the right deal too. Frank can still play 5 off the bench and actually functioned best last year while doing so. Also, if Charlotte keeps #11, they could always draft a Collins or Markkanan to further shore up the front court bench.

Not sure what type of wing upgrade Zeller could command, but given Cody's value to the team, it would need to be a young player who still has some upside, IMO.

I tossed out Tobias Harris in a previous trade thread post prior to the Howard deal. Still like him and think he could easily be a 18-20ppg SF in Charlotte's system.

Always been a fan of his and he showed alot of the tools from his shed when he dismantled Charlotte's defense last season:

Possible Detroit could have some interest in a Zeller for Harris swap if rumors of them shopping Drummond are true. Dont think they'd have a need for MKG with Stanley Johnson already on the roster.

I'd gladly sell the farm including the 11/31 Zeller/MKG future first for Butler or George, but a Harris or a similar up and coming type young wing may represent a cheaper and more realistic fallback option.

nbadraft.net has updated their mock as if this trade went down between the Hawks and the New Orleans Hornets!

Count me in as another person who when I saw the headline assumed we'd traded #11 and started cursing up a storm.

I'd pull the trigger on Love in a nanosecond if Marv/Lamb and a couple first rounders gets the job done. It would certainly be worth an inquiry on Cho's part. However, I suspect Cleveland will endeavor to parlay him into another All-star as opposed to draft picks though since they're in win-now mode.

Great trade. I apologize to Cho, he had plans in place when he made that awful Plumlee trade.

Y'all like TJ? TJ & 14th for the 11th. Perfect 6th man candidate.

I give Cho major Kudos for his stroke of negotiating genius in offloading that Plumlee contract on Atlanta to offset some of dwight's salary.

I still fail to believe his initial trade for plumlee was part of some engineered long term master plan to use Miles as a trade chip.... But he deserves credit for cleaning up the blunder at ATL's expense, And getting the #31 in the process was the cherry on top.

I'm thinking it will stay that way until morning since it wasn't fixed immediately.

I'm really excited about moving up to #31.

Hope he gets it together with you guys, sadly dissapointing at the end of last season. Hawks basically gave him away, cap space. He was a bad fit with our system. For some reason won't go the extra mile, push himself to the limit. Cruises too much and doesnt seem to take it seriously as he should the majority of the time. I hope it's different for you guys (not too much though) Gives you effortless 11 to 12 rebounds and a ton of offensive fouls.

Since he left his 1st love(Orlando), this is 5th marriage and the last 3 have been really rocky,

Have we ever had an 8 man rotation this good?

Not since we were the original Hornets. It's hard not to be excited and Cho may not be through. I don't think he will get PG13 or Jimmy Buckets but we really don't need that much, a backup PG and SG and we are good to go. Batum can now become the third option most nights on offense, Dwight put up a double double on decent numbers (besides FT's) last season, IIRC. All of this basically happened over night. Bravo to Trader Cho!

Other than getting Love or Butler, I think my ideal scenario would just be one of Monk/Ntilikina/DSJ slipping to 11 and then using the MLE + 31 (potentially packaged with Sessions contract) to fill out our bench.

wow

I'm surprised Cody or MKG weren't involved in this.

still, I'm not a fan of Dwight. he has been terrible after he left Houston.

As some already said, seeing a trade involving Howard is not surprising. But yes, the price is ridiculous.

Cody and Howard are perfect combo at the center position (obviously, the Hornets were lacking someone in the low post, especially against teams that were cheating in defense), but with Howard you badly need good complementary pieces, especially forwards. Not sure about Marvin here, and it's even worst with Frank (again, in a Howard line up).
Maybe guys like Green (memphis), Patterson...Guys like Griffin, Milsap, Ibaka would be rentals or too expensive...

If Bosh was cleared to play and if he accepted to come here, now, that would look like something on the paper (at least for couple of years). k nm, i did not know yet he was done /
Even if it does not work well with Dwight, his contract is nice enough to do something else next year.

As for the next step, i am not sure the Hornets could have a decent price for MKG (they would sell low like... the Hawks..). So to keep flexibility, i would say that keeping both picks and doing the best choices (obviously perimeter player & combo guard or bpa to trade in the short/middle term) might be ideal now.

ps : Curious to see if Cody tweets something, i did not forget howard's ejection back in november

Sounds good to me, Monk makes a lot of sense now (if he falls or we can trade up somehow). Surrounding Dwight with three point shooters worked in Orlando! I still hope for Frank Jackson, Hart or Bam at #31.

WOW. I mean I don't like Dwight, but there's no way to hate such a lopsided trade! And we finally have a defensive C that doesn't suck!

Amazing trade, the offseason is shaping up nicely!
