Punish the superbad teams

These lottery’s have a 5-10 year affect on a franchise. It’s unlike any other sport. There’s so few stars in the draft and unless you get one or are a big time free agent destination, you’re screwed. They should use a 5 year weighted system where draft positioning is based on your record over that span, playoff record, and if you’ve hit the lottery within the prior 5 years or not. Some kind of system with elements of that involved to prevent purgatory for teams like us.

This is an update of who I would take if fell to us at our pick. (personally I would love to trade our pick and move back and pick up an additional future 1st rounder.

PICK 1
Brandon Clarke (not sure if he can play center due to only being 6'8". If he were 6'10' I would easily take him 1st)
Jalen McDaniels
Sekou Doumbouya
Nickeil Alexander-Walker (this depends on if Kemba stays. If he leaves I would consider him with the 1st)
Mfiondu Kabengele (I think he could be what we need at Center. I would consider trading back and grabbing him 20th or so)

PICK 2
Kerwin Roach (love this kid. Might move him to 1st pick consideration)
Matisse Thybulle
John Petty
Jordan Poole
Terrence Mann
V.J. King

PICK 3
Simi Shittu
Bennie Boatwright
Jarrey Foster
Josh Reaves
Dylan Windler
Aubrey Dawkins

William McDowell-White in the 2nd round please.
6-5 Aussie point guard, son of a great Aussie Rules football player. Tough, talented player with good instincts.

Brandon Clarke might be able to play some small ball center with miles at the pf.

Sekou did not develop the way i expected, he is way too passive despite his fundamentals. His basket iq and motivation (i already said this) are a question mark too. There is some Moiso in him (if things work well with the coaching staff, it could be pretty good, otherwise he will pout and won't deliver on the court).

Anyway i already said that if Clarke is available, it would be stupid not to pick him up considering the mess that has been the frontcourt here since 2017. If not, i would also pick whatever good (and nba ready) big they can get.

SERIOUSLY...no more French players...period. Tony Parker is the only one who had fire in the belly.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

He is a favorite of mine. He is the funnest player in this draft along with roach and petty imo. I have him rated fairly high. The only reason I do not include him as a player we should draft is because I doubt he will get drafted and we can invite him to camp. Here is where I ranked him in my top PG's avaialbe

PG
A - Coby White UNC 6' 5" 185
A - Ja Morant Murray State 6' 3" 170
A - Kerwin Roach Texas 6' 4" 180 (COULD BE NEXT RUSSEL WESTBROOK)
A - Nickeil Alex.-Wal. Virginia Tech 6' 5" 210 (SLEEPER PICK)
A - Carsen Edwards Purdue 6' 1" 200
A - Cassius Winston Mich state 6' 0", 185
A - Tre Jones Duke 6' 2" 183
A - Jalen Lecque Bre.Aca.(HS-NH) 6' 4" 190
A - Jaylen Hands UCLA 6' 3" 170
A - William McDowell-White Aust. 6' 5" 183 (FUN PLAYER TO WATCH)
B - B.J. Taylor ucf 6' 2", 195 lbs
B - Marcquise Reed Clemson 6' 3" 194
B - Geo Baker Rutgers 6' 4" 185
B - Jon Elmore Marshall 6' 3" 189
B - Markus Howard Marquette 5' 11" 175
B - Quade Green Kentucky 6' 1" 170
B - Shamorie Ponds St. John's 6' 1" 174
B - Ty Jerome Virginia 6' 5" 195
B - Darius Garland Vanderbilt 6' 3" 175
B - Ky Bowman Boston College 6' 1" 188
B - Ashton Hagans Kentucky 6' 3" 180
C - Javonte Smart LSU 6' 4" 190

You have 18 PGs ranked ahead of Darius Garland?

I’m concerned with the 10 A-level players at the position.

I love Coby but he’s 6’5” with a 6’3” wingspan and careless with the ball. He’s a hell of a shooter and fast as lightning with the ball in his hands. I don’t dispute he’ll go high in the draft. Based on your list I assume he’s your #1 PG? If so, I’d need more convincing after spending all season watching him.

This^^^^

Coby has some skills for sure, but loose handles and low IQ are not good qualities for a PG in the NBA to have.

I think trading back is a real possibility for us this year. Tankathon shows us selecting Bol Bol. I'd rather trade back and grab Walker to replace Lamb. Maybe a deal like our 12 and 36 for Boston's 14 and 22.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

Yeah. I don't see the type with Garland. I would take just about all of them over him.

I would LOVE to trade back. With we could give our 12 for a team selecting from 15 and back for a future 1st thrown in. Or trade with the Celtics as you suggest.

This draft is deep and I would hate to waste our pick on a Bol Bol who imo is injury prone and has a small ceiling

I would rather take Mfiondu Kabengele late who I now think is the best center available in this draft

I have a few targets at each pick, but I think it would be great to get some discussion on select prospects. I'd love to hear what everyone's thoughts are, as I do have my own. That said, I'll pick a prospect and we can discuss him further. One that I'm excited about (at this time)....

Romeo Langford
- Pros: great size for position, long wingspan (6'11"), solid on ball man-to-man defense, great touch around the rim and able to draw contact to get to the line
- Cons: Not the most athletic guy, has a hard time creating space for himself, doesn't always look engaged when he plays, 3 point shooting (I think there is potential to improve in this area as he his form isn't broken and has decent mechanics as is).

Bol Bol has more than a small ceiling. He has a developed offensive game (averaging 20 Ppg as a freshman) with range and freakish length averaging about 3 blocks per game. He may be skinny and may have some issues adding weight, but I mean look at Anthony Davis his last year out of university. He was close to a stick compared to his current build. Some things you just don’t teach, and a 7 foot 8 wingspan is one of them.

I will agree with you on Bol Bol having a higher ceiling that small if nothing more than his stature :P . But I do agree that he is capable but I would rather take a chance on Mfiondu Kabengele who is projected second round than select Bol Bol with possible a top 10 pick. I would feel better the day after the draft. I also think Kabengele is capable of playing the 4 spot as well. Kabengele appears intelligent and seems to be someone who can adapt.
