my suggestion to the league to help teams develop young players. players under 21 and/or players less than 2 years from entering the draft do not count towards the roster maximum (or something along those lines) - up to a maximum of 3 players designated for this tag.

this would allow every team the chance to have an 18 man roster, with 3 players either practicing with the team, but not making the active roster, or sent to the development league. teams can develop young players slowly, but not at the expense of taking away a roster spot from a deserving vet.

under this plan, the bobcats could have kept southerland, daniels and signed another young d-league pg and not had it effect their game-day roster.

any negatives to a plan like this?

this donald sterling news is spreading like wildfire.

its amazing he has lasted this long. there have been racism stories about him for as long as i can remember. assuming the league doesnt step in (he'll probably just get fined), nothing will force him out until 1) players publicly refuse to sign (or resign) with the clippers citing sterling as the reason 2) fans stop supporting the franchise until he gives up the team.

if the media are the only ones outraged, nothing changes.

Great idea. Love it.

Donald Sterling screwed up big time.

He is on the short list for worst sports owner of all time. Boggles my mind that anybody would play for him.

Anything less than forcing him to sale the team would be a disgrace. Same thing basically happened to Marge Schott in Cincinatti, and she was forced to sale if I remember correctly.

Nene almost murdered Jimmy

am I missing something?

that looked reasonably mild to me. Deserved to be ejected, but shouldn't get suspended.

It wasn't really a headbutt like a strike, more just pressing his head against the other dudes trying to intimidate him.
Then grabs him by the back of the neck.

big deal.

Nene had him in the Muay Thai clinch, he was about to unleash a flurry of devastating knees or maybe pull guard and submit him with a triangle choke.

Exactly. I think they suspended him for what could've happened if they didn't interfere soon enough

I don't know why Silver didn't kill Sterling in his press conference. What more proof do they need? Its his voice, and his gf's voice. Either this is one of the most thought out incredible hoaxes of all time or Sterling needs to be forced to sell his team like Marge Schott was forced to with the Reds.

I think Silver did the right thing. Can't just fire a owner of a franchise in one day. I'm sure they're trying to find a way to allow him to resign from the job before making it any uglier in public view than his words

He has been a terrible owner since day one. Its not a coincidence that Elgin Baylor basically said he was a racist years ago, along with many other things and this came out. He needs to be forced to sell the team.

That's exactly what will happen after Silver go through the procedures. It's all public relations and the NBA as a organization saving face at this point

The Clipper fans are lucky that they have Paul and Griffin right now, or the ownership group that wants to move the team to Seattle would be jumping all over this.

You're right, and I would say that they're lucky the team didn't decide to boycott Game 4 of the playoffs in refusal to play for a racist owner. Now, that would've been ugly and would've marred the NBA reputation to some degree

I think it would have been amazing if they did boycott it. Stand up for what is truly right in this crazy world and put sports aside.

Edit: I was once a Clipper fan in the head knocking days of Q Rich, D Miles, Maggette. When I hated George Shinn and thought Charlotte was getting screwed in the ass.

Easy to say that, but if it were the Bobcats would you be saying the same thing? I would still want my team to play in a playoff series if we were up. Why let that **** prick Sterling take away what the team has worked for all year.

If the Clipps make it to the Finals and win, Sterling better not get a ring or whatever else owners get when their team wins the Championship

Hell, if the team had boycotted playing for Bob Johnson I would have been okay with it.

Sterling is easily the most hateable owner in the NBA. Constantly did racist stuff, refused to pay for an assistant coach's life-saving surgery, allegedly had a favorite escort talk him into personnel decisions, what else?
