Both I guess, but in my experience the majority of top picks either are stars or stars in making from day 1. (Obviously there are outliers so we don’t need to list off 15 examples).

Position and floor both play into this. I expect that OO would win more games next year, but I'm less certain about the long term answer to which guy would win more. Similarly I think that it would take LaMelo a few years to really help teams win but Edwards could probably make more of an impact in year 1 because it's a bit easier for a SG to transition to the NBA than a PG.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

Great point re: floor playing a role.

Assuming he’s drafted into the right situation I’d think Toppin could be a good chance of having the most impact in his 1st year (because that’s viewed on a stats basis and not a win/loss records).

Long term I wonder if someone like Hayes might contribute more to long term success though.

I think this draft is going to be very good for high level role players. I want to trade up from 32 and secure one of Bey, Terry, Maxey, or Patrick Williams, all of whom have a decent chance of being better than 3 of the top 5 players in this draft.

I agree, and would add the name Jaden McDaniels

Patrick Williams reminds me a little bit of young Marvin Williams.

Is it just me or is announcing you want to trade up

Post#1628 » by fox2jk » Sun Nov 1, 2020 11:04 pm

for Wiseman a bad idea? Now even if the T Wolves or Warriors don't want him they can trade down and get something for the player they may have wanted to begin with.

No summer camp, no Summer League, a very short training camp, and possibly no preseason games , I think this season is going to be a wash for most of this rookie class.

Did talk to a lot of guys who could go between the lottery and the second round.

been saying this for a while man

this is the year where a smart coaching staff and front office make a clear decision to treat their project rookies like projects and not waste time with unrealistic expectations.

The more time goes on, the more I want Halliburton. I've never been big on Edwards. Ball is too much of a crap shoot. Wiseman I like, but don't love.

As for Edwards, it's really hard to find many wing Alpha scorers that can't or won't make plays for others, that have lead to their team's success. While he may put up some nice-looking stats, I doubt it's anything that would translate to real on court success. Are there any really successful All Star level wings that are number one scoring options for their teams but are terrible at creating for others? Carmelo Anthony is the last All-Star level player of this mold that I can remember. Not saying his offensive style is that of Carmelo only that day where Alpha lead scoring options who don't create offense for others.

Ball crashed for me. I'm terrified of him falling to 3.

Where's a good spot to trade back to if Ball's there at #3 and FO doesn't want him? -- #5? Lower if someone throws in a future 1st?

I think that if anyone trades up, it's going to be for Ball. I also think that is the ONLY way that Ball goes before 3, because I don't think Minny or GS takes him at their spots. We better hope that someone trades up.

The MJ/Edwards pic leaked. Edwards was so excited to meet MJ that he posted it, and we couldn't control the narrative. We totally want Edwards, MJ doesn't leave Florida for just a scouting trip. He wanted to meet him and talk with him, to make sure he was our guy. The Wiseman thing is all smoke to try and cover for it. If we are smart, we will be linked to Ball soon for the second smokescreen. Trying to get interest up on those two guys. That's the only we can possibly get Edwards at our spot.
Who I woulda took:
2023: Miller | 2022: Duren | 2021: Bouknight, Jones | 2020: Ball | 2019: PJ | 2018: MPJ | 2017: Monk | 2016: Damian Jones | 2015: Winslow | 2014: Vonleh, Napier | 2013: McLemore | 2012: MKG | 2011: Knight, Kawhi
