I don't want to give up 14-18 million in cap space PLUS a lotto pick for either guy.

I'm tired of being the team giving up picks to bail out other teams looking for cap relief. Picks or salary should go the other direction to make that fair

shades of Jason Richardson

I get what you are saying - and you know that I have banged on for years and years that IMO the Richardson trade was the worst trade in our franchises history, but the difference there was that the Warriors HAD to move money because they were so far over the cap and we not only gave them a get out of jail free card by taking him, but we also gifted them the 8th overall pick to do so.

That's why I love the Jazz idea that luciano-davidwesley proposed: Not only do we get something we need (a serviceable stop gap at the 5) but we get compensated for helping them be able to sign Conley.

Seems so much worse when you put it that way...

I don't buy that we're sending out the 11th pick for Turner. Eric Gordon doesn't have that much value and when is the last time the Pacers traded one of their players for a draft pick?

They traded their own pick the Spurs used on Kawhi Leonard for George Hill. They traded Paul George for Oladipo and Sabonis. They traded future picks for Brogdon. And most recently they traded Oladipo for Levert. They've also been rumored to have made the 13th pick available for a veteran upgrade.

Trading Turner for draft picks would be way out of character for the Pacers.

I hope you are right, but its part of the draft experience for me to buy into every draft day rumor about deals that I don't want to happen.

Potential 3 way between us, Houston and Indy.

Hornets receive: Turner and 24th pick
Hornets out: 11th pick

Indy receives Eric Gordon, Christian Wood, and 23rd
Indy out: Turner and 13th

Houston receives: 11th pick and 13th
Houston out: Gordon, Wood, 23 and 24

In this scenario, if we walked away with Turner and say a Primo/Jackson/Garuba, I could convince myself to be fairly content. Esp. if we finagled our way into a higher 2nd with the 56/57th.

Houston makes out like bandits there.

We get 13 and Houston keeps one of their picks, then we can talk

This is probably gonna get me in trouble, but I'd trade Rozier. I don't view him as a future piece and his price is never going to be higher than it is now.

If we trade Rozier the team AND the coaching staff both need to believe in Monk. He's a better fit with the starters than Graham is.

Add me to the list. He's great but he's just a piece, not unmovable. Maximize your asset and leverage it, got no problem at all with cashing in.

Now that the draft is over, do ya'll feel like we should make a play for Lonzo Ball? He would be nice as a backup Point Guard.

I agree. I still think keeping Monk hopefully on a bargain contract and trading Rozier is still the better long term play.

If they took Bouknight they better damn well believe hes going to be the starting SG sooner than later and Rozier is going to cost a lot more to keep than we should be willing to spend on a backup SG, whereas Monk will likely cost more in the range of what we'd wanting to spend on that spot and still has the potential to be just as good if not better.

I still don't see it happening, though. The franchise doesn't seem to really have any interest in Monk. They also seem to be really high on Rozier and they love Graham, so Monk looks to be the odd man out. I think I'd look to trade Rozier for like Nurkic or maybe Turner or another legit starting center and resign Graham and Monk. I think Bouknight having better size than Rozier/Monk and filling a similar role makes Devontes fit a little better.

LaMelo/Graham
Monk/Bouknight/Martin
Hayward/McDaniels or MLE
Miles/PJ/Kulboka
Nurkic/Plum

Ooooof. I'm sure we can all agree that we love Terry, but yeah, we really shouldn't be planning on resigning him to 20m+ after next year with how our roster is now shaping up. A lot of teams would love to have him, and if we can get a top 10-20 center by trading him, that'd be an enormous move. There's still a lot of decisions to be made this offseason, and I'm extraordinarily curious to see what Mitch ends up doing.

Sell high of course. No-brainer with that kind of interest.

I'm confident that Myles Turner is still getting traded. The Pacers wouldn't have moved up to grab yet another big if they have plans for him. The offseason is just getting started.
