Not that it’s an excuse obviously, but I’m curious to know what would drive him to do this. Especially given the timing. The timing of all of this is obviously incredible. Like had he done something like this several times and this was just the last straw? Was this the first time it got really bad? There’s so many questions. But I guess they all lead to Miles career being over or temporarily suspended. What a buffoon

this process is going to take a long ass time to sort out. the league office has to decide whether to automatically suspend him, bar other teams from making offers to him, etc and I don't know how you make that decision without having a full blown investigation first.

As the apparent victim, Bridges' wife was certainly well within her rights to share all of these pics and video testimony from her kids on her social media.

It was an impulsive and terrible idea on her part though as it further diminished Bridges' already damaged market value to the tune of tens of millions of dollars (a % of which would have otherwise been directed to both she and her kids in the form of child support, alimony moving forward).

The smarter move would have been to remain radio silent yesterday after the police responded and she received medical attention and issue a vague statement saying it was a family issue that was being handled privately. Then discreetly leave him just the same and keep all the pics and video pocketed for the divorce or civil proceedings.

There still would have been a remote chance some team would have taken a flier on dangling a low ball offer sheet in the teens. No chance of that happening now. In fact, with her cooperating with the police, he might even be looking at jail time.

Mychelle Johnson comes from a successful family, she doesn't need money from Miles. He was lucky to have her in his life, he's lost a lot more than a big NBA contract this week.

Miles put her in the **** hospital, the money is not important. He's a danger to her and did right to speak up as quickly as she did after the incident.

I used to take our organizational silence as a sign of savvy, but at this point I’ve come to realize it’s just been inept PR and corporate comms. Most recently, there was no official statement on the Atkinson debacle (I don’t count Kupchak’s c’est la vie dismissal in response to questions as communication), nothing on drank-gate, and – at this point – nothing of substance regarding what looks like a felony committed by one of the standard bearers of the Hornets brand (and at a critical moment in his career). Keeping your mouth shut - aka ‘gathering information’ - makes sense in most situations, but this isn’t one of them. Sometimes silence serves to condone/enable whether you intend it to or not.

Show some spine, Hornets. You don’t have to convict Miles, nor should you - gather all the information you want - but you do need to strongly and immediately condemn what went down and communicate the organization’s position moving ahead – this is the very bottom of what’s been slippery slope behavior from Miles and you owe it to your paying fans to take a stance, even if it’s domestic violence = bad, and Miles = bad but wait and see.

I’m surprised at some of these comments. Not that everyone agrees this was a horrible thing and tragic to his wife and kids. But thinking he is playing anytime soon?

He is going to jail. He is not going to play a single game next year. I hope he gets sober and learns from this, and more importantly his wife and kids can recover.

Which comments? I think most fans here are rightfully disgusted by Miles and think he deserves jail time (edit; if found guilty - of course, of course)

Towards the end of this thread, I think you might have some who are just acknowledging the sad reality that many offenders (Kidd, etc.) find their way back to the league.
