Azubuike gets a lot of attention, but the dude isn't good at all. He padded stats against some terrible competition, but always faded out against any real competition.

I didn't watch much of him so don't have a strong opinion but looking through his stats that's not the case. His numbers stay pretty consistent. Seems to be tall, long, and knows his role. No way he can switch but seems like he could carve out a role as a 3rd/4th big at his floor with his size.

Ranked: 12.6/10.6/3.1
All Games: 13.7/10.5/2.6

Baylor #1 - 23/19/3
WVU #14 - 6/7/2
TX #19 - 17/12/0 (3 Steals tho)
Baylor #4 - 6/11/7
WVU #16 - 17/11/6
VILL #18 - 12/11/2
COLO #20 - 12/6/3
DUKE #2 - 8/8/4

Maybe I should have clarified "real competition". I wasn't talking about ranked teams, I was talking about him going against other good big men. Looking at this list, you can see where he dropped off against Carey of Duke, and Carey outplayed him as a Freshman in one of his first collegiate games while Azubuike was a seasoned collegiate player. The guy is really slow, and committed a lot of fouls because he was out of position with limited movement. He has no shooting ability beyond about 2 feet, mostly dunks or nothing. He was a 41% free throw shooter at Kansas.

I think Minny takes Edwards #1. I honestly feel like Warriors are trying to pull a Russell/Okafor on us. If we don’t trade down I’m fine with Wiseman but I prefer to get a project player with potential and a lottery pick next season in a deeper draft. I feel like we could fleece Detroit or the Knicks for Ball.

I feel like the Wolves also feel like they can fleece Detroit or the Knicks (or the Bulls) for Ball. I think Ball is going #1. The demand is high so the bids will inflate the price. Ball has the playmaking to be a game-changer for franchises desperately needing direction. Wolves can capitalize on that. Supposedly multiple teams are angling for Ball. He won't be there at 3. Edwards or Avdija will be there at 3.

All the talk that Ball will fall to us at 3, and we will trade down for a king's ransom is a pipe dream. If the Knicks or Pistons are offering all that for Ball, they offer it to Minny first and they take it. Or to GS.
Who I woulda took:
2023: Miller | 2022: Duren | 2021: Bouknight, Jones | 2020: Ball | 2019: PJ | 2018: MPJ | 2017: Monk | 2016: Damian Jones | 2015: Winslow | 2014: Vonleh, Napier | 2013: McLemore | 2012: MKG | 2011: Knight, Kawhi

feels to me like the pick for this team has boiled down to Wiseman or Okongwu; if Wiseman gone or too costly to trade up for the pick will be Kong

I’m convinced we’re trading Bridges and something else to jump to 1 for Wiseman. I just really hope a future first isn’t attached

Who are the rim running/rim protecting 5's around our second pick (#32) that could be a good target?

Jalen Smith (doubt he drops, but he would be awesome).
Daniel Oturu?
Udoka Azubuike?
Nick Richards?

Vernon Carey and Zeke Nnaji might be good, but they aren't really rim protectors with Carey more a post player and Nnaji a pick and pop 5.

I would be shocked if Smith makes it past 20.

Oturu never really impressed me in games I watched.

Azubuike is a monster, but college basketball 5 foul rule really hurt his production. If you pick up 2 quick fouls you pretty much are going to have a bad game.

I like Richards a lot and would be targeting him with our last pick.

Tillman is a great target at 32.

With essentially only 9 guys on the roster, we should have a pretty strong case for undrafted free agents this year.

Also wouldn’t mind buying another second rounder and double dipping on big men just to double our odds of finding someone solid. Also like the talent at center more in second which would only help me lean difference maker at guard early.

3- Edwards/Ball
32- Tillman/Dotson/Nwora

56- Richards/Azubuike

Other guys I like in second
Malachi Flynn
Jahmius Ramsey
Paul Reed
Reggie Perry
Robert Woodard

Guys I don’t like
Winston
Tre Jones
Carey
Cassius Stanley
Elijah Hughes

Love this!!

I would be happy if we are able to pick up a pick in the early 20s for a salary dump. And then force ourselves to go bargain hunting with our leftover free agent money.

Rather than overpay for 2 midtier guys who in a year or 2 won’t even be assets.

Cap space for draft picks / young assets is exactly the right move for us.

OO, oof.

Comparing Toppin to Middleton physically seems ridiculous.

They gave Lamelo a 91 rating for shooting potential, which is only one lower than Terrys rating, tied with Haliburton, and higher than what they gave Edwards, Toppin, Hayes, Vassel, Bey, Bolmaro, and Flynn.

Gun to me head, I think we are choosing between Edwards and OO, after Ball and Wiseman go 1-2.

I would be intrigued as to who this org prefers in this situation. I think OO is the better fit, but it’s really hard to pass on an electrifying talent on the wing like Edwards.

So help me god if we trade our draft pick for Russel Westbrook.

There's no way. We'd be getting screwed if we give up Batum and Rozier for RW.

I'm emotionally prepared for our front office to give up assets so they can pay an athleticism dependent player 120 million as ages from 32-34. I love Westbrook warts 'n all but I expect his drop-off to be swift and steep.

Season 1 would be pretty fun though, so I won't lose any sleep as long as PJ, 3rd Overall pick, or any future firsts are not included. I would be emotionally neutral if the rumor that it's Zeller, Rozier, and Monk is true.

Honestly, I think our front office is just feeding rumors out there so that when they pass on trade ups and pass on Westbrook, and take the BPA, then they get credit for self-restraint. Like lowering the bar of what could happen, so that when we do the normal sensible thing, the fanbase is super happy.
