I don't think I've heard this particular Jordan story before. Steven Jackson recalls a practice back in 2010 where Jordan ripped into the team. He then proceeded to suit up with the bench unit and lead them to victory over the starters which included Steven Jackson and Gerald Wallace.
I wish that version of Jordan was still around and that engaged in the team. Has he even been to a game in person this year?

Re: Around the NBA 11
Hollinger kn why the Hornets should tank....
Charlotte Hornets: Charlotte is in the unbelievable position of having the league’s worst record despite more or less trying to win. Their 2022 lottery pick has played 13 minutes the entire season, and their 2021 lottery pick is out of the rotation. LaMelo Ball has only played three games so far and just returned on Wednesday, but with Charlotte already 14 games below .500, there’s only so much impact he can make on the standings. Also, in Ball’s triumphant return, the Hornets lost at home to the league’s next-worst team.
It would be classic Hornets to try to push for wins now and end up with just enough to pick, say, 10th this June. They shouldn’t, though. Charlotte also has multiple veterans with expiring contracts (Mason Plumlee, Kelly Oubre) and a restricted free agency decision coming with P.J. Washington. TheHornets are paying Gordon Hayward over $30 million a year to occasionally play basketball and might consider shutting him down too. Finally, they could play their last two lottery picks in an actual game.

Hollinger is right about everything except Bouknight. He obviously hasn't watched him play.

Yeah a bit of ignorance there to say Bouknight hasn’t played minutes in actual games.

19 teams in the league have between 17 and 22 wins.

Kemba is getting released. His knee must be toast. Heartbreaking for him.

Kessler got 20/20 against Minny.

Re: Around the NBA 11
Early returns suggest he might have been the correct center to draft of the 3. Who knows what Hornets would have done to his dev though. He'd been gobbling up stats in gboro I suspect.JDR720 wrote:Kessler got 20/20 against Minny.
Agbaji also with a good game.

Re: Around the NBA 11
I think all 3 of Duran, Kessler and Mark will end up good.
But all 3 of them would be in the same situation here. Splitting time between Boro', the bench and being the backup.

IDK how many people truly looked at Kessler and thought he'd be the best of the three so I don't see any legitimate reason to complain about that possibility. that's straight revisionism.
The comparison to chart is Mark vs Duren

Re: Around the NBA 11
point stands. we needed a center. there were 3 centers mocked in range 12-24. we had two picks. i remember at least one draft twitter i followed making case for kessler in same tier as other two. plenty of others mentioned him as worthy of discussion. there was really no reason, it seems, that he wasnt viewed as same tier as mark. advanced stats favored kessler. size, length etc...
if kessler ends up being the one, front offices that needed a center and had two picks in the range probably need to answer some questions. just sayin'
if mark blows them both away long term, then we can retroactively offer some praise for mitch, lol.
the whiff whiff comment was me having a poke

Re: Around the NBA 11
Most everyone viewed Mark and Duren on their own tier and Kessler a step below save for a select few that may or may not have just been trying to be contrarian.
https://www.rookiescale.com/2022-consensus-board/ took a composite of many pre-draft rankings and mocks and clearly shows Kessler as Late 1st/Early 2nd while the other two pretty much always in the lottery.
Hell, we even drafted both Duren and Mark so they will undoubtedly be linked throughout their careers. Kessler is just one of those guys who surprises everyone. It happens. He wasn't really in the convo though

Re: Around the NBA 11
Right, I agree about the mocks and expectations. I did same looked at consensus mock, they had him 24.
I guess my point is, why was he considered to be lower than the other two (or at least on par with Mark. I can understand Duren, 18, raw, built, potential etc...)? Looking back, There really isn't any good reason why he should have been ranked that much lower than mark. As I mentioned, his Advanced stats and measurables were really good.
I think scouts overthought this one a bit.

Looking back, Jokic shouldn't have gone 41st overall, Giannis shouldn't have gone 15th, and Darko shouldn't have gone 2nd.
That's not really the scope of the argument though beyond revisionism

Because he's white. And I firmly believe that.

Re: Around the NBA 11
Before everyone hounds me it's based on the thinking that white players don't have the upside or athletic ability of African Americans. And they don't. Kessler without looking averaged what 4 to 5 blocks a game plus? It's all revisionist stuff like swedd said, but yeah.
