I think it would be foolish of the Lakers because the team is too dependent on a 38 yr old and a broken down 30 year old. But curious if you guys think that's getting enough back to get a reset at the end of the year.
The deal I thought of was...
Charlotte gets: Russell Westbrook + Kendrick Nunn or Patrick Beverly + Juan Toscano Anderson + 2026 LAL 1st + 2023 CHI 2nd
LA gets: Gordon Hayward + Terry Rozier + Kelly Oubre + 2023 BOS 2nd
Oubre getting surgery takes this off the table. You can swap out Oubre for Plumlee, but I don't think LAL would actually have much use for Plumlee since they are trying to play AD at the 5 and they have Thomas Bryant. You can simplify it to Rozier/Hayward for Westbrook/Nunn too, though (maybe remove the 2nd swap).
My ideal would be to find a deal for a 1st round pick for Rozier by himself or with Plumlee/Oubre and keep Hayward as a stopgap glue guy that can potentially be traded at next years deadline as a huge expiring, or just ride out the contract. My worry with this Lakers deal is that I would be terrified of Mitch/MJ going into this terrible free agency class with max cap space. If I knew they were going to use the salary to resign their own younger players and keep future flexibility then I would be fine with a deal like this if there weren't any better Rozier offers on the table.
LAL w/ Oubre option
LAL w/ Plumlee option
LAL w/ no Oubre or Plumlee
