That seems extraordinarily unlikely. Why would he do that?

No idea, but all the intel today has been Pelicans aren't offering Zion or Ingram.
We have heard no other deals being discussed.
Also, heard we are still leaning Miller.

Nothing other than a cryptic press conference that suggests a trade at this point.

We did just receive news that Jordan is selling the team, the draft is 2 days away, and free agency starts about a week later. There's a lot to talk about beyond just the draft.

I'm not betting on a trade necessarily, I just know this is extremely unusual. We rarely if ever get impromptu check-ins from Mitch, particularly right before the draft or FA starts (has that literally ever happened?). If we don't make a move and are just announcing that we've decided on our pick, that seems like very bad business and honestly an example of FO rigidity and lack of adequately preparing for new options that might surface up until we are on the clock.

My guess is Mitch's presser is
1. A whole lot of nothing, him just talking about due diligence evaluating all the prospects, the Hornets are going to get a good player no matter what happens blah blah blah. Mitch takes a few softball questions about ownership change Etc
2. Some kind of announcement about Mitch stepping down, which would be such a bizarre time to make this announcement, why not wait until after the draft.
3. Highly unlikely this is related to any type of trade. If a trade is already been agreed, then they wouldn't wait 24 hours to talk about it. If a trade hasn't been agreed, there's no chance in hell you would risk that trade by talking about it now.

Mitch isn't the perfect GM, but with regards to how he handles the draft it's a night and day difference between Cho and him.

I actually LOVE Mitch and Jordan in control. The NBA has had a revolving door with teams winning the chip and imo the Hornets are right there. 5 picks and a respectable team without them already *if they can remain fairly healthy*.

I'm a Blazers fan and was wondering how you guys are holding up, two days before the draft?

I'm ready for it to be over at this point. Also not looking forward to seeing all the inevitable whining that will take place online if the team passes on Scoot.

It’s all vibes this way. Luckily draft week coincided with vacation week this year. So I’m on the beach drinking some margaritas chilling easy knowing the Hornets are about to get a great player one way or the other. I lean slightly towards Scoot but I like Miller also. Only focusing on how this player could give us the second star we desperately need next to Melo. Either can get there.

Blazers board is full of the Zion BS and trading for Bam Adebayo or trading Dame

I hear there is now some talk of Scoot not wanting to go to the Hornets for he wants to be the
PG from day 1 and knows its unlikely the Hornets would trade Melo, while the Blazers might
have to deal Dame.

I'm just waiting for this all to end. Really Portland/Charlotte should have it made with this being
a 3 man draft and both teams having a top 3 pick. I'm so tired of other teams trying to steal our
pick, that this team worked so hard to tank for.

Really, I’m envious of your situation. As a Charlotte hoops fan, we all have this sinking fear that we are going to pick the wrong guy. If we pick Scoot Miller will become a star and vice versa. That’s just the history of our franchise. In a way we’re kinda making Portland’s decision for you, as you just get left with whichever tier 2 prospect is on the board for you so I wouldn’t be feeling near as much pressure

Any links to the chatter about scoot not wanting to come to Charlotte because of Melo?

Best guess on how many picks we end up keeping?

3 seems about right

How high of a pick can we get for combo of our remaining 4 picks? 20?

We're hearing on our end, Charlotte plans on announcing who they will pick at 2 tonight and it appears
to be Miller for Scoot wants to be the #1 PG from day 1.

This feels extremely unlikely. No team has ever formallt announced who they will pick before draft day. This would ruin any potential leverage we have on the trade market.
Your Charlotte Hornets! We’ll eventually get something right;right?

Who is the Marang guy who’s saying this? (I saw him referenced as the source of this rumor on the PDX board) Is he actually connected or just a typical local shock jock/podcaster?

we arent announcing who we are drafting until its our pick on thursday. makes zero sense to do it sooner. hornets lose all leverage. give me one benefit to announcing early?
