Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
I wonder if Houston wants to win and would send Eason for Miles or something

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
I don't think either Houston or Warriors are giving up much for Miles right now because neither have cap space to resign him, so it would be a 1 year rental. Especially for Houston who has no real title hopes this year. Probably the same for Warriors but they have an outside chance I suppose.

If they want Miles for Wiggins and give a 2028 first for example, that's a win
I mean yeah but that's not realistic.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
I would honestly just go after Murray.
Would suck if the Lakers get him for peanuts.
I'm cool with trading our lottery pick for Murray. At least we have a guy who can step up when LaMelo is out and run the show. He also plays defense.

At the same time, it is unusual for a 20 ppg player to be available at his current contract price. It is equally rare to prise away young upside players because they are on rookie contracts, and teams have fomo on their development.
People seem to talk less about Moses Moody than Kuminga in GS, but given Moses Moody's role at GS I'm less certain about them protecting him. Moody hasn't had a ton of opportunity in a crowded GS backcourt, but when given opportunity has shown he can score the ball. He has had three 20 pt games in the last month even with limited time. And he is far more interested in defense than Miles.
Moses Moody is an example of the type of player I would consider trading Miles for. GS wins this trade in the short term, but Moody is still only 21, and has the upside to replace 15-20 ppg while value-adding defense that I think makes him the right sort of target for a Miles trade.
1/7/24:Spoiler:
Moody was a real draft darling around here. Argh I can't believe we picked Boukbum over this guy. His shot looks smooooth.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Moody would be a great get for us. An amazing get would be Murray. I don’t see a path forward to dealing for either. Miles to GS works but, as stated earlier, they can’t sign him to big money this off-season. What could we give up for Murray other than a pick and players to match for salary? Sincerely hope y’all can outline realistic deals for either one. Need some hope for this team to get better.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Golden State just needs to save money. Getting off Wiggins saves them hundreds of millions of dollars and allows them to possibly go after buyout players, which they can't do right now because their salary is so high. They are also clearly not a contender and only have a few years left of Curry. We should be the perfect partner for them dumping Wiggins with assets

I'd go for Moody, I don't care about his playing time. Jalen Johnson couldn't get off the bench playing behind John Collins for years. Look what the Hawks have now.

If the Nets were ever willing to trade Mikal Bridges what would you guys be willing to give up? Him and Miller would just be incredible together.

It would be LaMelo and three firsts, but they would turn that down instantly
We just don't have the assets.

He's a high end role player, not a cornerstone.
I'd give them Miles and Nick Jr,, but they wouldn't accept that.

Is Mikal Bridges the most overrated player in the NBA? He had a good back end to last season and hasn't done a lot this year. People were saying he's better than pick 2.
Lamelo plus three firsts would be a hilarious overpay.

As well they shouldn't. They'd probably black ball us for offering that. Dudes a great defender never misses a game and average 21 5 and 5. I'd give up quite a bit for him.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
In voting done by GMs in October Mikal was
the second best perimeter defender in the NBA (behind only Jrue Holiday) with 13% of the GMs vote;
the second best player at moving without the ball (behind only Steph Curry) with 13% of the vote;
the fourth best versatile defender in the NBA (behind Giannis Antetokounmpo, Draymond Green and Bam Adebayo) with 7% of the vote;

I want a veteran who would be vocal and has won before. He didn’t want to step down from being a starter, tough pill to swallow as you get old and those types always say stupid things, Beverly green etc, but if he was keen to come in and be a vocal leader, I’d give him a go. I couldn’t think of another available vet like that.

Players like Mikal are viewed as way more valuable than LaMelo. Mikal can play for every playoff team trying to win a championship. LaMelo currently cannot. And also is injured 50% of the year. I like LaMelo, but that's a pretty easy trade for us... Miller, Bridges, and Williams is very athletic and defensive trio that's easy to plug other players around... Like Miles Bridges and Rozier ironically

His value is too high to not be a real difference maker (star) player. He's a fantastic 3rd option. Not someone you trade a lot of stuff for if you're in our situation. It's like Murray going to the Hawks, which didn't help Atlanta at all.

I wouldn't trade Lamelo and first for him like coolio said, but id give them a solid package. Hes way better than Murray as an overall player.
