Cody seems like a pretty good small ball center. He would be best paired with a more physical center so we could work matchups. If we can get a big guy who can bang around with other more physcial guys and keep Cody as a faster and lighter center I think he would fit nicely. We could play our best guy matchup wise and sometimes even force the other team out of their sets by going against the grain and making them chase Cody or fight to defend the other guy.

Agree jdm, think that's pretty much my view.

Cody Zeller is like George Zidek except without the athleticism, of course.

Apologies to Zidek fans, I mean no disrespect towards the legendary Hornets pivot.

Some people would prescribe betony, an herb known to heal vaginitis, for Zeller, but I disagree. I think Cody and his punchdrunk face give this team toughness.

Not the Hornet I would've guessed.

Think he was there last time for the tryout, wasn't he? If I recall correctly, MKG also got an invite but turned it down to work on his shot.

I may be making all of that up, but think it's right. Thought he and Plumlee were two of the head scratchers as far as invites.

Yeah, Cody has been invited to the select team previously.

Just for fun, pick your 10-man from the select team membersf for right now, not future or potential

I'd go with:

PG: CJ McCollum/Marcus Smart
SG: Zach Lavine/Devin Booker
SF: Rodney Hood/Brandon Ingram
PF: Jabari Parker/Aaron Gordon
C: Cody Zeller/Jahlil Okafor

ARGH, 4 Duke players.

Cody clearly doesn't have the upside that most of the other bigs do, but he has the most experience as a starter. He'd be my glue guy up front if I needed a team to compete today.

It's good experience even for him, and a chance to network and learn from other players and coaches, even if it's only a Select Team invitation.

I'm not so sure. Typically athleticism is the biggest indicator of "upside," and we know Cody isn't short on that. Still only 23, too.

I've been thinking about the oft-leveled accusation that Cody has "T-Rex arms." Is it possible that the accusation is erroneous and an artifact of fudged measurements? There was a nice article about that sort of thing last month in the WSJ.
