Both Phoenix and Philly liked him. Phoenix was right behind us and Philly gave up their best player to get Noel after we took Zeller, pretty good chance he wouldn't have made it to 9.

I really like the pick. Zeller will become the versatle PF we have needed. He is perfectly skilled for today's new NBA game. His speed, quickness, combination of size and skill will work well in transition. He sets excellent screens and knows how to play P&R. As he increases his shooting range he will help spread the floor, and create matchup issues on slower 4's outside, while powering up on smaller bigs. Unlike Hyphen, Zeller is ready to contribute offensively right now. Hopefully MKG will somehow develop a decent jumper to pair with a dribble drive, which would compliment Zeller's game.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Thank you.

This is pretty much what I hope. But I'll be sad if McLemore, Noel, or Len really pan out and do well. All 3 have more risk than Zeller, but more potential upside too. Zeller was highly ranked all year long though. He slipped at the end, so my hope is that he isn't as much of a reach as I fear he might be.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

i must admit i got excited the other day when I saw the comparisons to Bosh and Aldridge.

I hope it pans out.

im quickly on the bandwagon as I always get draft picks wrong, I really didn't want Kemba/Biz 2 years ago.

Charlotte will regret not drafting Nerlens Noel come 2014-15 season. Cody Zeller is not a horrible pick, but he'll be less of a offensive threat than MKG this upcoming year, and his short wingspan will make him a negative net defender in the NBA. Hopefully, Zeller's jump shot in practice can translate to actual games, but until then I have to believe that this pick will haunt the Charlotte franchise. I wasn't even a fan of the Bobcats possibly selecting Ben McLemore, but he would've been a better upside pick in the top 5. If Cho wanted Zeller this bad, at least he could've traded down with Minnesota at 9th overall to get Derrick Williams & a late 1st (26th overall) along with it. This pick deserves a C+ grade because Zeller is slightly above average at best

Zeller's wingspan is fine for a 4. His standing reach will be at the very least average.

Sounds like you are suggesting we start to build around Zeller Bass?

I honestly had my sights set on Alex Len. But I have to say Cody Zeller really did a great job in the combine and although I would rather have Alex Len I won't get too pissed with the pick until the season has already panned out.

Funny you say that - I also got excited when I read that.

I wonder if we can have Zeller take those tanning pills that C Thomas Howell did in Soul Man, grow his hair out, dye it black, roll in some vintage Iverson cornrows and change his name to something like Ezekiel Powerbomb?

Would that help people like him more?

I think he has potential to pan out. I'm on wait and see approach.

So, Zeller will start at PF?

I am starting to come around to this pick. It was horrid value but he could be a good backup big when we are a decent team. Once we are trying for the playoffs he will be a solid 7th or 8th man.
