From listening to that Terrence Oglesby interview and other things we pieced together, I do get the feeling that there was some frustration with the organization that melo wasn't playing, and it was his decision, not that the team was holding him out. But that's really just me reading between the lines on some things that's been said.

Yeah, in recent years it has felt like the Hornets were 15 years behind the rest of the league in terms of the basic infrastructure of a modern NBA franchise.

I've lost track--do we have a running tally of the coaches on the staff? the Hornets website (like a lot of aspects of the organization) is a mess and hasn't been updated at all.

From what I remember 3 assistant coaches have been hired so far:

Christ Jent:

Josh Longstaff:

Lamar Skeeter (dude needs a wiki page):

I'm going to hold off on getting excited until I see two consecutive summer league wins.

From Jent's wikipedia
He served as LeBron James' personal shooting coach while James was on the team.

LeBron to Charlotte confirmed.

Man the new owners and GM just don't inspire confidence at all. Very definition of wet noodle. I worry about the maturity if all three (owners, GM, coach) are soft spoken, boring people

I’ve got to disagree with you here. I don’t find well articulated answers boring. What I see and hear is we finally have a plan that’s being communicated and driven from the top down. That has not always been a thing in Charlotte. We haven’t really heard from Lee as he’s been in the playoffs with Boston. However, we know he was a well thought of, up and coming coach. He’s also known to be great with players. I honestly don’t need to be entertained by interviews. We’ve seen how that worked out with Matt Rhule locally. We have a process and that in itself is exciting for me.

I have no idea what this sentence means.

In your experience, are soft spoken people typically immature? Or are you saying they can't address immaturity in players? Because if the latter, it's obviously the coach's job to get production out of players and to address maturity issues.

Is there any specific reason you view the coach as unable to do his job?

Obviously I meant the maturity of the players. Maybe I should have said this: In all the media pieces, interviews etc. all three of the owners, GM, and coach don't exactly inspire confidence or leadership. It doesn't help that it feels very nepotism-ish and "promises made back in our Atlanta days, lets get the gang together!". Whereas someone like Redick, he can speak a few sentences and you can see that he gets it and the command of knowledge and leadership is there. Not saying they should have picked Redick, I just wanted that sort of command of the room from at least one of the three positions. I hope they prove me wrong.

So you think our new coach can't control his locker room based on that plain vanilla interview he did in like a lobby of a motel? Just completely disregarding that he may roll in fresh off being the lead assistant for a championship team and having coached contenders for years?

That seems like a silly take to me.

I've been a Hornets/Bobcats fan for more than 20 years and I may be in the minority but this is the most bullish I've ever been on the combination of ownership, management and coaching. I think we have a group that has a real plan and really thinks things through on how to build a winning organization. The fact they are brining some of the people they worked with in Atlanta with them is fine to me. how else do you determine who is good at what they do than by seeing them work every day?

I went to a season ticket holders town hall meeting with the new owners at the end of last season where people in the crowd were given a mike and the chance to ask questions. Many of these were very tough one's (ex- about Miles, the med team, why we should bother to renew, etc). I was impressed with the thoughtful answers and their composure. I think we will get better and that these guys are in it to build a better org and win eventually. Probably need yet ANOTHER year of patience and definitely need some good health to get there but I still have hope and these dudes are a lot more professional then MJ's family biz.

The Hornets are also going in another direction with their training staff, recently parting ways with their longtime director of healthcare and sports performance Joe Sharpe, per league sources. Taking a look at the Hornets’ injury situation was among the tasks of Hornets’ ownership this offseason.
