This may have already been previously discussed but it seems like I read somewhere that a team can keep a QO open until 10/1. Does anyone know if this is accurate?

If so, it may buy us some time to see how things play out

He just got sentenced to community service and probation too.

I'd be seriously surprised if Miles is held accountable in a meaningful way. What fats said is probably the most likely scenario, although I think he does play for us, not the Lakers.

I think Adam Silver is going to make an example of him. I remember Jaxson Hayes being charged with domestic violence, battery against police officer, and something else. Does anyone recall how many games he was suspended?

I bet Bridges camp is doing everything possible to try and get her to drop the charges. It won’t make any of this OK, but it seems like that always ends up happening. It depends on what she wants though.

Please don’t anybody take this the wrong way and I’m in no way defending him or projecting anything negative towards his wife, but it is very odd to take to social media and post the content she posted 36 hours after it happened. I just can’t recall that happening ever, though I’m sure it has.

A lot of these guys never seen any consequences for their actions. they are the money train for so many people that they have a vested interest in making sure it stays on the track. They are going to be working over over time to make this go away.

I'll be the first to admit I'm not an expert on social media, but I do know enough, if lawsuits are involved, it's better to control the narrative. That's what she did. Until that happened (and me being a PIston fan), I was thinking this might have been a distraught girlfriend finding out he had 10 more, and he was half-way just defending against a scorned woman's rage. So legally it might not be so bad, and maybe the Pistons could be opportunistic and pick him up for a very sub max number. That changed the second I saw here post. I'm not sure if she did that on her own or if she was coached into it by a lawyer, but it was clearly the right thing to do.

None were felonies, and thankfully DV is taken much more seriously in 2022.

The state has evidence of a felony, already in the book, so it really doesn’t matter what she wants at this point. She could choose to not testify in court, but they already have sworn statements, officers on the scene with evidence, victim testimony from both his wife and the kids.

Hopefully they throw a big fat heavy book at him, hard. No matter what the league will do (pretty much set by CBA), he can’t play if he’s locked up for 2 years.

Don’t know how much his QO counts against our cap but it could keep us from signing a FA that can help us. If that’s the case withdraw it and move on. I’m sure other players are lobbying Mitch to not cut him…he just needs some help…blah blah. Naturally they have to navigate those waters carefully.

The cap hold for Miles is 16.2 million. If we Malik Monk him it opens up room under the cap but I've heard conflicting numbers about how much space. I've seen that we would have less than the MLE.

We are in financial no man's land where the control of the player has a blurry value.

crazy: After seeing all the pictures ,reading his wife's written statement and listening to his son describe witnessing the choking ,its obvious he is guilty and will do jail time. How long that will be is yet to be determined starting with his court date July 20th. I am very surprised he is out on 130000 bail and not 500000 due to the facts of his case. Hes 23 years old and I suspect could get 1 to 5
years if he pleads guilty. I don't believe anything his wife does now will charge the outcome. Probably paroled in 1 to 2 while still or 26. As for the NBA,conviction of a felony should require Miles to reapply for membership after paying fines,serving suspension and sucessfully completing psychatric sessions on domestic violence. The only out for the Hornets would be a clause that voids his contract if he is convicted of a felony. Otherwise they're screwed PS Look for Miles to show up on another
NBA team in 2024. And as Paui Harvey used to say"Thats the end of the story"

Her attorneys should be leveraging threat of criminal charges for a settlement for her and the children.

While on the one hand I agree she released details on social media to protect that her story survives and so that people believe her, her attorneys likely advised her to go public so that Miles and Klutch or anyone else could not bury the truth using media muscle. They would point out the benefit of being believed.

She was very composed for someone fresh off a crisis, and that requires coaching.

The language she used and the full presentation including the video of her child describing the event was very tidy for someone likely highly traumatized and most likely disoriented emotionally to the point where it's difficult to think let alone flesh out her story with such precision, first hand recall on her claim, medical documentation, pictures of injuries from varied angles, on top of witness testimony from the child.

The public release seems wrapped together to accelerate a settlement so she can move on and secure that restraining order before even thinking about visitation rights.

And her therapist would encourage her to verbalize, not bottle, even if she determines the appropriate channel to be social media.

It seems inappropriate to me for you to speculate as to what an abuse victim is being told and what strategy they are using.
