Hopefully he can recoup some of his value. If we're going to make a big trade we really need him to carry enough value to be a decent incentive for the other team.

Do we go after Gobert for Mark/Nurkic/1st deal.
I like the idea of Melo/Miller/Flagg with Gobert anchoring the defense.

HornetJail wrote:Gobert turns 33 this summer... our starting five on opening night with Flagg in play would be 24/22/18/27/23 years old. there is no reason at all to trade big value for a 33-year-old.
If we're fortunate enough to luck into any of the top 3 or so picks, I'm keeping the starting five the way it is, and building up the depth on this team with other picks, the MLE, and trades.
I would personally be happy turning over literally every guaranteed contract on this team aside from Melo/Miller/Bridges/Mark/Moussa... and realistically Bridges/Moussa are not deal breakers either.

Mark looks like he is only out there because he has to or he doesn’t get paid. Why would you want to keep him past this season? I’m trading him for ANYTHING in the Summer.

Edit : saw him play 2 weeks ago and he was struggling to run.

Flagg/Harper or Zion those are my only options this off-season.

Welcome aboard! Plan A) get a top 2 pick. Plan B) trade future assets + Miles for Zion
I would include anyone not Miller or Ball for Zion as part of the player package, but I'd like to keep NSJ if possible. Ideally Mark too, but I suspect he'd be out in that scenario.
I'm done waiting on home grown talent to develop when there is no infrastructure around them to develop properly. I'm done sitting through seasons of no-name g leaguers or guys who were about to retire taking up roster spots. I'm done watching us whiff on lottery picks in grand fashion. I'm happy to take on the risk of Zion because at least we have a chance if we go that route.
If we land Flagg, then it's less necessary and my opinion shifts to trading for an impact player just at maybe a different position.

If we trade for Zion I think we would need a center who can stretch the floor. Zion likes to operate in the paint. Mark is not the best fit for a guy like Zion imo.

I don't think you kick Mark to the curb since he's not a big minutes guy and never has been, but you stagger their minutes so one is always out there, and then go out and try to trade for a guy like Vucevic

hijacking this idea:
what kind of player could we expect to get offering a team the 5th-7th pick and our 2026 1st? assume filler contracts going out (a combo Green/Nurk/Okogie/Salaun... or Miles) to match any player in return
