I played last night, played 5 games of full court, 8 minute long games, only took 4 shots (2-for-4). There have been several younger ball hogs coming out recently that take some of the joy out of playing. Congrats, you are taking a bunch of shots against dudes in their late 30s to late 50s. Games 3 and 4 were fun though. Got on a team that actually moved the ball. Won easily. Ball movement always beats iso. Right now I just set a ton of picks (as usually the smallest player on the floor - I am always amazed at the lack of picks others set during pick up games - its so damn easy to score with a few well timed picks - wish I was a big man) and move the ball when it comes my way and play defense.

Agreed, in fact my HS coach told me he wished I was tall, I could have been really good. It sucks watching people who aren't really great at basketball but get to play college and even pro because they are 6'8" to 7 feet tall. Now obviously I would never have been good enough to play in college let alone the pros, heck I barely played in high school....but I at least had the IQ and hand-eye coordination (and sneaky quickness from a white guy) that I never saw on my team or opponents teams starting big men.

I prefer to pass than shoot, and I force it like Lance and make it look pretty.... but I like taking 3's in catch and shoot situations, or pump faking like Frank and driving in to take a foul line jumper. For some reason when people play against me they think I suck and will just throw up the shot if I'm looking at the basket, but I can get them in the air and drive around them, especially in pickup games against people who never played against me before. In the little time I played in high school....we got killed almost every night because we were playing against private academies and state top-10 teams every night with D1 recruits....I actually drew a lot of fouls. And a few charges. Let me tell you there is nothing quite like being a 5' 9" scrawny white PG and taking a charge from a 6'4" black guy. The refs will call that every time

I love setting millions of picks on people in pickup just to see how pissed off they get, it's amusing how quickly people get heated over their pickup games lol

Why do I keep getting sent to a random site every time I click in a thread on mobile??? It's not even a pop up. It goes to some add and won't let me go back to the thread.

It was taking me to some blog page earlier this week rather than the standard category page.

Seems to be corrected now though.

The worst is when you get on a team with a bunch of iso ball hogs who wont set screens and they won't even use screens that you try to set for them. I hate playing with people who won't screen or move the ball, so when I get on a team like that I'll just try to set as many screens as possible so at least someone is trying to facilitate some good basketball, but a lot of kids anymore won't even use a screen. Its like they literally think they are too cool to use a screen, like its embarrassing or something to them to get open from a screen instead of taking their man one on one. I've played with kids who weren't even good enough to really take their man one on one, but would still give me dirty/awkward looks whenever I'd try to set a ball screen for them and just waive it off to try to do a terrible iso move that they aren't even good enough to execute.

The RealGM app wasn't great but worked. Tapatalk is a bit better, but both options are better than the mobile site. Neither app displays tweets, but still, just opening the browser whenever I see a tweet is easier than browsing the mobile site.

Yeah, I see this behavior all the time from younger players. They have developed basketball skills like shooting and dribbling and they have that youthful athleticism, but they are so far behind in the fundamentals of passing, screening, ball movement and overall basketball awareness. There is so much unnecessary machismo in their game that leads to feeling they they need to make the game harder than it needs to be. I love playing with the old dudes at the gym because they all know how to pass and they are most are very unselfish. They don't have the extra energy to be wasting on playing that way. I was hoping as less kids grew up watching Marbury, Kobe, Francis, Iverson etc... and more grew up watching the Spurs, Warriors etc... then we would see less of this type of play. I guess it just takes a long time for trends to trickle down to youth. 5 years from now every 20 year old is going to be pulling up from 8 feet behind the 3pt line like Curry and it will be awful.

Yep, totally agree. I usually won't go to an open gyms or play pickup games unless its with people I know, or if I at least have a group to run with.

I wish I could play pickup with a group from this board. That would be wild lol. Too bad I'm multiple States away from Charlotte.

We seriously need to get a pickup game together.

We need to do a mock draft based on our posters.

Who'd go 1st overall?

Based on their posts or basketball ability? If it's the latter, let it be known that I'm actually 6'11 240 with a sweet three ball and a 45 inch vert.

So... Martin Shkreli was the person who bought the Wu Tang Once Upon a Time in Shaolin album, reportedly to try to get famous friends. He doesn't even plan on listening to the album... This dude is really trying to become the most hated man on the planet.

I found this hilarious. The same thing happens in my place far distance from USA. I formally leaving the basketball court because some young fellas started to play some streetball and chucked the ball any time they had the ball. This kind of players really made me angry.

Don't know who Martin Shkreli is. Unfortunately, instantly recognized James Deen's name when Fats mentioned him a couple of days ago.
