I usually am not well received on this board, so I'll preemptively defend my suggestion.

-You save (literally) 90Million on cap.
-Your roster is thrown out of whack so you can tank hard, in a good draft year (the last year before the tanking is less rewarded)
-You don't trade Kemba

You go into the offseason with
Howard/Zeller/Koufos
???/???
Korver/Shumpert
Lamb/Richardson
Kemba/Monk
+2018 1st
+8 million in cap(&exemptions)

It saves 30Million off next year's cap

You can do a proper rebuild with very little money committed and if you still wish to move Kemba you can do so in a calmer environment.

Uh yesssss please[/quote]

Would you include a lotto protected 1st that decreases protection every year? And maybe 2 2nds?

I’d do a lotto protected first that stays protected until we drafted outside the top 14 picks...but u can have the 2nds to go along with that...I don’t care about 2nd rounders cuz we normally sell them to the highest bidder anyway

Edit: Getting annoyed that some of my trade machine links are failing to work.

Charlotte out: Howard, Marv, MKG, MCW
Charlotte in: Kevin Love, Shumpert, Kosta Koufos, Vince Carter

Cavs out: Love, JR Smith, Shumpert
Cavs in: Howard, Hill, Marv

Kings out: George Hill, Kosta Koufos, Vince Carter
Kings in: JR Smith, MKG, MCW

Essentially the Hornets get Love to play PF/C with Kemba. Koufos and Shumpert add depth. Vince is here for a playoff push and cap relief.

Cavs retool a bit and get the interior defender they want and a PG who is nearly ideal to play with LeBron. Marv is a starting level vet who gives them great 3&D play at the PF slot or SF in a pinch. They also line up a lot more salary to line up with LeBron's potential exit.

Kings get a young SF to fit alongside their developing core. MKG can be a great fit next to some of their more offensively minded guys.

I'm assuming picks would move too, but was too tired last night when I put this together to think through what would be needed that way.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

What would it take for you to take a deal for Shumpert or J.R. Smith from Cleveland?

We don't have any expiring deals to match salaries without giving up an actual piece like Marvin or Lamb. Downgrading any of them to Shumpert would at the very least require a 1st rounder around pick 20, a better pick would be needed for taking on Smith or sending out MKG would require a substantially better pick.

where does our defense come from after this move?

Zeller (injured)/Koufos/JOB
Love/Frank
Batum/Graham/Shumpert
Lamb/Monk/Carter
Kemba/Stone
would get violated on defense every single night.

I like Kevin Love, but his defense is horrible. I might still do the deal, but the key is Kemba. Do we trade him or not?

I think the better question is, what would it take for us to get Kevin Love from Cleveland without giving up Howard or Kemba. I don't see it happening. It seems like the Cavs are trying to play both angles. They don't want to give up the Brooklyn pick, but they also don't want to get worse via trades. If they're still trending down by the trade deadline, and we are trending up, I wonder if a trade of Marvin Williams + MKG + our 1st would get Love + filler?

The three guys coming back in the deal only account for about $7.5M next year. I'm firmly against using Kemba for a salary dump, but this would be the way to do it.

I would honestly feel bad for Kemba ... in addition to being used for a dump he would have to play with Lance again. Got to think he would hate that.

The options are strange for us. However, we could keep Kemba with this and reorganize our roster for the remaining part of this season.....whatever happens, happens. This is literally just playing numbers and shifting around players.

I don’t care how much cap space we get, we aren’t signing anyone better than Kemba.

I'm not a fan of a Kemba trade ... but this team as constructed and coached is going nowhere. Something has to give.

Personally I want Nic, Howard, and MCW gone. I don't want Kemba, Lamb, or Monk to go. Other than that I'm willing to talk.

My dream scenario would be to get rid of those first three guys and somehow get Love. Willing to trade an unprotected 2018 to make it happen.

2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu

We might be back in the Kemba talks because apparently the Kings are going to hold onto George Hill until they can trade him for Otto Porter...

Only way I see it happening is if you guys just pretty much copy/paste the Kyrie deal, but in reverse, and do IT + Crowder + BKN pick for Kemba. IT + Smith + Shump + BKN pick for Kemba + Batum.

I honestly think Kemba is as good as Kyrie (and was better last season), so if the consensus is that Cleveland got robbed by in the Kyrie trade, then I don't see why people don't think it is justified to pay a slightly worse package for a similar player on a better contract who doesn't have intangibles/drama issues.

Kemba and Lebron would be fantastic together. Batums contract is insane garbage, but he might actually be pretty decent for you guys in his rightful place as 4th/5th option glue guy and hed clearly be much better than JR or Shumpert. You'd really be all in on Lebron staying if you added those two and the team would be super expensive, but I don't see many better options for you guys to be able to close the gap with Golden State at all.

Kemba/Wade
Batum/Korver
Lebron/Crowder
Love/Green
TT/Frye

Maybe I'm biased because Kemba and Lebron are my two favorite players, but I think that might be able to get it done. Kemba isn't going to cry about not getting pampered enough and would even be willing to be 3rd option and focus more on playmaking/defense (hes also elite at C&S 3s). Batum isn't that good, but has length and would fill a needed role on offense and helps balance out the rotation (might be better to start Korver at SG?).
