Here is Part 2 - and I will stop there

Edit- most of this post deleted because after thinking it over, I agree with Yosemiteben. It just introduces the discord of another forum here and there is no need for that. I have left just a part of the first post (on prior page) because It contains discussion I really thought was interesting to share re Lin's contributions in Bukls game

Maybe this is just me, but I don't care so much about what some random, non-Hornets board thinks about Lin.

He's here and we like him. I think he'll earn respect as the season goes in.

I am with yosemiteben. I don't really care what people post on other boards.

I agree . It's a one time thing. I won't re-post from there again.

Guys - jeremylindotnet or jlinportal. Take the excessive stuff there. Actually, if you thinking of making any pro-Lin posts you should probably go first there. Very active discussions and lively game threads. And that way you won't get the rest of us Lin fans, who enjoy discussing Hornets basketball, tossed from this forum.

Guys, as others have mentioned, I just don't see anything positive about us discussing race in these Lin threads. None of us have walked in the other's shoes. There are have been atrocities committed against almost all minority races, here is the US. Trying to argue about level of awfulness each minority race endured is a losing exercise on a basketball message board.

Obviously Lin is viewed as someone who many Asians and Asian-Americans are proud of and rightfully so. Just because others (famous or not) might try to compare him to other famous people in regards to race, doesn't mean we need to go down that road as well. I don't think Spaceballer meant to insinuate anything other than to point out how much attention Lin is bringing to the franchise on an international level. Lets just leave it at that.

As for comments from other boards... If there are comments that are newsworthy, or stats someone dug up that are interesting to share, or stories that are entertaining or relevant, links worth reading (such as the game recap from the fan behind the bench etc..) than by all means, feel free to post that content here. However, I don't have any interest in reading copied opinions from other boards. You can always summarize an opinion and post it here if you feel it is something worth discussing.

Now lets get back to talking Lin, basketball and the Hornets.

That is just simply not true. I'd suggest you brush up on your American history.

Why don't you just ban the people instead of locking the thread? Guys would actually love to discuss the dude more but instead you end up with crap like you've seen above.

I don't wish to backseat mod since I think Fats is doing a great job with the situation. But I will note that the vitriolic language and flaming that kicked off this particularly unpleasant cycle was interjected by someone who isn't even a regular member of this board (at least I haven't seen him post in other threads on this board, nor even in this thread prior to this, perhaps). It's just someone from another team's board who just stopped by to flame away at Lin fans and stir the pot.

Like I've said before, the Lin haters that seek him out even when he's on a new board have always been more disruptive to forums than anything brought by the Lin fans.

If Hornets fans here go to another team board on RealGM to flame and troll, as just happened here, they'd get suspended or banned or warned.

Locking or deleting the thread would only serve to reward those trolls and flamers, since that's probably the desired goal of the Lin haters seeking him out on another team's boards.

Anyway, let's move on. More than enough has been said on the issue. I'll trust the moderators' discretion. They've been fair so far.

alot of writers and nba fans cry murder than the word jackie robinson is utter in the same breath as jeremy lin. Our Greg Pak's statement puts in it beautifully. He is "OUR" Jackie Robinson. with a smile.

You guys then have 0 knowledge of the hardships african americans went through. This is beyond disrespectful and I am not even african american.

We get it you guys are asian, he is asian so you cheer for him. But he has not broken any barriers. Because asians have never been see as 2nd hand citizens in this coutnry that are less than humans. Nor have asians ever been used as slaves in this country for centuries.

It'd indeed be quite funny if the baka (Japanese pun) is suspended cuz of that, I doubt it tho.

He probably did these promo pics over the summer when he gets all his endorsement stuff out of the way so that it doesn't interfere with his season. It probably takes a while for marketing to get all their ducks in a row for the roll out of an ad campaign.

I thought we ditched the whole Jackie Robinson topic awhile back with my heart wrenching story of asian athletics :P

If the team finds a way to monetize those Chinese viewers then they'll make mad bank in advertisement revenues. Was surprised the Lakers didnt do their best in trying to reach out more to the asian community at home and abroad, but then they likely knew they werent gonna keep Lin so acted like a bunch of lazy short sighted idiots. Yea D'Angelo "Stupid Face" Russell is gonna save the day haha, ive got money bet with a bunch of idiot laker fans giving me great odds that Lin will have a worse season than Russell. So damn blinded by ignorance, hate, and stupid blind optimism, but hey, easy money.

Hopefully this last game has gotten Lin out of his damn funk and he'll start being more aggressive on offense.

Props to you for taking Asian-American Studies in college... sadly, most non-asians have not taken this course yet.

As for Lin, I've noticed Lin at times has also been guarding the Small Forwards the past two games. However, they were both slower white players who can shoot. haha. (Kyle Korver and Doug McDermott). Lin will probably guard his buddy Chandler Parsons tonight too -- but Parsons is too fast.

btw, I see Doug McDermott as Most Improved Player this year.

Parsons is going to be on a minutes restriction coming back from injury. I think he's only suppose to play 15 minutes (possibly only playing the second half or something). So we may not see much of him.

Big Al and Jeremy Lin with the Lil Kemba doll. I wonder what Psycho T is listening to on his headphones in the background all by himself on the steps.
