Is anybody else as confused as me why we have the Biz contract? We could've had a Dwight expiring but instead we are walking around with +17 mil hold for next year. I know we got a 2nd rounder but we normally sell those anyhow.

I guess that 2021 2nd is worth the hold? Let's trade that!

We need an impact player. Here is a list of impact players currently playing on non-playoff teams:

D'Angelo Russell
Andrew Wiggins
Bradley Beal
Tim Hardaway Jr.
T.J. Warren
Kevin Love

It's a very narrow list. But I don't think the priciest guy on it is unattainable. I suspect Kupchak is prepared to include first(s) + second(s) plus either Monk or Miles. There are a few that would not require Monk or Miles.

How about Batum + Monk + 1st for Andrew Wiggins?

The other day I was thinking we should trade Batum and a first for TWJ and that horrible contract, then I looked up his stats and he's been CRUSHING IT. Now it looks like he's on a great contract. Same with TJ Warren.

I'd still like to go after Wiggins. I think we could get him without giving up Monk or Miles.

Guys we have 2 2nd rounders next year and one of them could be Washington, the other OKC. Those are worth a 1st. Trade those with our 1st and we can get out of the Batum contact. Tanking teams are desperate for assets. Make the deal.

Wolves are on the bubble. That's why they valued 2 win now players (Saric + Covington) over longshots or picks for Butler. Wiggins is shooting 40% from 3 on volume.

And don't forget, as soon as Wiggins were to arrive, Batum would become irrelevant, so the perk of this deal is Batum disappears. And if the Wolves will absorb Batum, Kupchak would really need to bring it. Monk would be gone.

If Nic is gonna cock block us from building around Kemba and if I had to deal Kemba feeling I could lose him for nothing...

Well, there's hell to pay.

Kemba is a top 3 scorer in the NBA, an ambassador to the game and recruiter, a closer, a clutch performer, an excellent teammate.

So Kemba + Nic for...

Booker + Warren

Monk/Graham
Booker/Bacon
Warren/MKG
Miles
Cody/Willy

+ top 5 picks for the next 2-3 years.

Even with a significant return...
Even while dumping Nic...
You can see how far behind we fall.
We lose 2-3 years in a best case scenario.

The plan is to keep Kemba

Booker is the ultimate empty stats guy. Will never be a winner and especially not on that contract. Do not want

Maybe so but that's a deal that would make the Suns new GM vomit.

Hornets cap situation is such a mess. So many toxic contracts given out to bad players. I don't think any team has as many toxic contracts as the Hornets. Biyombo, Zeller, Marvin Williams, Batum, Gilchrist. All make more than Kemba. With so little flexibility, what's the point in having DH's contract expire? Not gonna open up cap room. So they turned DH's contract into 4 second round picks and stayed below the luxury tax. I'm pretty sure that was the rationale. It doesn't nothing to do with making the team better in the present.

I'm in favor of a rebuild. Trade Kemba to a team that thinks they're 1 player away from a ring. The catch being they have to take Batum or some pair including 2 of the following- Zeller, MKG, Marvin. We take back expiring contracts and maybe a second rounder.

Let Big Frank walk in free agency. Figure out something for Lamb... 7-8 mill a season. Preferably 2 years. Now you have some flexibility and can start to build through the draft.

If you just keep the status quo, you guarantee that you'll be a 35-40 win teams for the next 5 years.. or perhaps not even 35-40 wins. Need to take a few steps back to build a good team.

If you are building through the draft the last thing you need to do is devalue Kemba with a bad deal. There is no need for immediate cap space so just let those others guys expire. Why spend capital to move contracts you don't need to move. If, and I think it is a big if, you have to get the best combo of youth and picks you can for him. Preferably people in the first or second year of their rookie deals and 1st round picks. Maximize on quality value deals while the other contacts come off the books and sign nobody to anything long term until your cap mess is clear.

Would consider a Billy King-esque offer for Beal.

Beal would be amazing next to Kemba

Ernie isn’t that stupid to trade Beal to a division rival.

Jordan wants to keep Kemba. Kemba shouldn't stay here for free. Demand some moves to better the roster right now. The guy is in his prime and shouldn't have to play with guys not providing positive value like Batum and Marvin. The experiment is over, Cho is gone, and we need to move some of these contracts with him. Use the 2nd rounders, use future 1st lottery protected. We likely won't ever get a player like Kemba for a long long time and it's time to cash in all the chips.

Wall would be an easier get and Kemba would play just as well off the ball

Problem is we would have to attach 2 first round picks to Batum becuase we can't take his contract without Batum going back

At this point I would do it to save Kemba's sanity. Wall needs a change of scenery and maybe coming home and playing for his idol will give him the shot in the ass he needs. Also Borrego >>>>> all of Wall's previous coaches combined

Return to Charlotte Hornets
