Re: BrandHIM Miller: The Brandon Miller Thread
At least LaMelo won ROTY and made the ASG with some pretty memorable highlight moments before he became a part-time player. Miller never even got his time in the sun before he succumbed to Hornets DNA and started playing crippled (and terribly).
I’m not sure if he’s improved in any aspect of the game since his rookie year, although to be fair to him, I’m not sure if he’s even played enough healthy basketball.
By far the most interesting part of our team this summer will be his contract negotiations. Oh, to be a fly on the wall…

I’m not worried about Brandon (yet), I’m sure his touch will come back with more games.

Nice write-up (and collection of clips) after BMill's best game of the season:

Re: BrandHIM Miller: The Brandon Miller Thread
Fair to say Miller is starting to shake off some of the injury rust and beginning to take that leap we were all hoping to see this year. On ball self-creation, and creation for others, the mid-range pull-ups in traffic, and the two-way defensive impact. I think the shooting percentages will continue to rise, or at least the two-point field goal percentage. Still a weirdly streaky three-point shooter and when he misses his misses are bad like side of the rim kind of stuff.

i think thats a fair assessment. 3 level scorer. he's our best hope at a legit 2-way player. and best hope at a legit end game closer.

Among all guards and wings, only Derrick White has a higher blk% this season. Miller is 3.5% or 85th% among all players.

I spoke to this a few weeks back but I still view him as the only one capable of putting athleticism, mentality, and varied offense necessary to be the centerpiece player.
Whether or not he rises to that is a completely different question, but I think it's safe to say most agree Melo will never be that guy, so hopefully Miller gets there

Re: BrandHIM Miller: The Brandon Miller Thread
a few random thoughts on Miller heading into the new year
- It's great to see some obvious improvements in his game this year especially from self creation and getting back to the mid range game that Should be a big part of his offensive repertoire going forward. Also great to see the defensive playmaking.
- You can kind of see a world where the big four offensive players on this team are trying to find natural pecking order, and it wouldn't surprise me the least to see Miller eventually end up as the 1A option, With Mello settling in to a little bit more play making duties, kon Operating in his ideal role as a floor spacing, ball moving, high IQ 3rd option.
That being said there are still some things I'd love to see Miller iron out of his game to really unleash his full potential
- I think he needs to make quicker decisions with the ball in his hands. The ball sticks too much. I understand part of this is him hunting some of those mid range shots are part of his shot diet. But the ball still sticks way too much when it hits him. Work on the quick decision making.
- In the last game when he scored 33 points on 14 of 29. Hard to fault a guy for shooting almost 50% from the floor, but I don't think this offense needs one player taking 29 shots, especially when the other two were scoring well on high efficiency. He has a tendency to get tunnel vision, especially when he's playing with some lesser offensive talent on the roster. A quicker decision making and a little bit less hero ball would actually make him more dangerous
- While he's a capable three point shooter with deep range and The ability to get hot, I don't think he's nearly as good a three point shooter as he thinks he is. I'm not sure he's someone that needs to be taking upwards of 10 3 pointers a game. Again some of that is shot selection.
Big picture though, There is a reason we've been basically a .500 team with him on the floor. I'd imagine if he continues improving over the rest of this year and stays healthy, he's looking at a big contract extension number.

Re: BrandHIM Miller: The Brandon Miller Thread
Great analysis Fats. Agree that his 3 point shot isn’t where it needs to be yet. I’ve noticed that he tends to move his base more than most. Maybe he’s trying to correct off his movement, but he tends to lean into his shot verses going straight up. His level of consistency with that base is limited, hence the lack of efficiency at times. His feet and positioning are good. His set shot is much better. Hopefully he will work further to gain a more dependable launch.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: BrandHIM Miller: The Brandon Miller Thread
I'm just glad to see him rounding back to form. I was legit getting concerned earlier in the season.
Definitely looks like a foundation piece we can keep with Kon moving forward.

Until he has a rough stretch, then it will be time to trade him again.
These back and forths must have some people in awesome physical shape.
