Re: Super Lintendo: The Jeremy Lin Thread
Lin is happy for the team but I'll bet deep down a bit disappointed in himself, it's a pride thing. Good players don't want to settle for mediocrity, it's human nature. Lin fans don't want to see him fall into that category either.

they would pressure him 94 feet, since everybody knows he tends to make TOs when pressured...if he wants to shed off the image, he needs to trust his handles and make quicker decisions, be fearless... To be honest, i think he has been a little tense, even in his good games... he needs to relax, trust his own ability, just go for it...
I agree with this as well. Even the games where he played well so far, it hasn't been the result of the attacking mentality that he's had in past success. Hopefully this comes back.

If he hit 2 more shots, he'd still have 4 TO's and I would still not be talking about how well he played.

Re: Super Lintendo: The Jeremy Lin Thread
First, it was a great team win. Glad to see guys are playing good d and team ball. I think Lin's fans are disappointed that Lin got less and less mins last two games. Lin did not play bad last two games and getting less mins is unfair. There are players like Batum and Kemba get 30+ mins regardless how they play. Lin's mins seem to totally depending on he performed at a particular game and not allowed to play through mistakes, which is like his situation in Houston and LA. If you want to look at efficiency, Lin is easily one of the most efficient players out there. Tonight Kemba got 30 mins while Lin got only 17, which is not right. Better mix would be Kemba with 25 mins and Lin with 22 mins in a blow out. Last night Lin only got 18 mins when he played well which was also uncalled for.
Perhaps Clifford has a big plan, but that's not the way to develop a player like Lin who can really help the team this season. I doubt it is helping his confidence.

Re: Super Lintendo: The Jeremy Lin Thread
Lin didnt play well today. Missed a coupla open shots, but more importantly committed 3 REALLY stupid TOs that were just egregious. The previous game it woulda been nice if he got more run at the end to run up his stats with the deep bench players, yknow to help him out the next time contract time comes up. Today is more understandable in getting benched since he played like crap, but again shoulda thrown him in at the end to help run some PnR with the bench bigs like Kamisky (instead of watching ISO shot jacking). Regardless he needs to pick his play up and needs to maximize his time on the court, cuz with Lamb balling out and Roberts/Hairston getting alot of love, his mins can get completely shredded if he falls into a shell. He needs to attack intelligently and move the ball quickly if the seam isnt there.
Today he got wrecked by friggin Deron Williams and Devin Harris.... that's just bad. Two old washed up players made him look like a fool, proving to all the haters how right they are to mock him.

Re: Super Lintendo: The Jeremy Lin Thread
Lin only got 18 mins last game and only 17 mins this game. But they were under the best case scenario... blowout wins for Hornets. The stat I look at the most for PGs are their +/- ratio... Lin was +21 against the Bulls and +7 today against Mavs... To a coach, those are really good stats. and in the previous 3 losses, Lin was still a +5.
So for the season, Lin is +33. That's an impressive stat. That means, having Lin on the floor is beneficial for the Hornets.

You can't rely too much on +/~because it depends too heavily on who he is on floor with. Other stats show more effectively that he has been having a beneficial effect when on the court -- his PER before last night's game was over 21, if I remember right, one of the highest on the team.
Clifford's going to have a challenging year handing out minutes. This team is deep and five guys in the rotation are on contract years. He seems to have a good relationship with players which should go a long way. But it will be interesting to see how Lin responds -- he was ninth on the team in terms of minutes last night -- it is not what he is used to.

Lin's minutes were fine. Both games are blow out. The starters were doing great and did get a few extra minutes.

Re: Super Lintendo: The Jeremy Lin Thread
What can I say. Lin sucks tonight. 4 TO is really bad considering he only played limited time and shots not falling as well.
He needs to earn his play time, just like everyone else on the team. I love the fact that there is no alpha dog on the team that no matter how bad they played they still get to play 30+ mins and fire 20+ shots a game. If he can consistently put up good stats then we don't have to argue about his play time here, I'm sure the coach will make adjustment based on his performance.
I focus more on the quality rather than quantity. No matter how much time he got on the court, as long as it's efficient AND help the team to win, then it's a good game for him. What's the point of him scoring 30+ points with 20% FS 10 TO and the team ended up losing?

Re: Super Lintendo: The Jeremy Lin Thread
'bout dam time to get your act together JLin. You're acting your salary. Tone down on TO and play well consistently, that's it.
OTOH, it's a blowout, totally possible he'd come back out otherwise.

wow lmao I did not know lin had this sort of fanbase. Lin is a backup pg deal with it, he isn't lebron james ( saw a lin fan twitter tweet a comparison of the two). There isn't some mass conspiracy to hold him back

“Lin is a backup pg deal with it"
This is sad. He was the starting PG of Knicks and Rockets for ~ 2 seasons, both made the playoffs. And he started for Lakers till they went to tank mode.
Now people refer him as a "solid backup pg". I wish he could do better.

Exactly. I have no idea why anyone is making a big deal out of the past two games.
Vs Bulls he played 19 minutes. The last 6 minutes were garbage time. If Lin had played those 6 garbage minutes he'd have 25 minutes. Nobody would be complaining.
Vs Mavs he played 17 minutes. The last 4 minutes were garbage time. If Lin had played those 4 garbage minutes he'd have 21 minutes. People would be complaining less.
Would you rather have seen Clifford play Lin with the 3rd stringers during garbage time, just so he can pad his stats? Or would you rather he rest and not put unnecessary minutes on his body?
Serious question for Lin Nation. Which make-believe scenario would make you happier?
A) The Hornets win 50 games, lose to the Cavs in the ECF, Lin averages: 10ppg, 2rpg, 4apg while averaging 18 minutes per game. Lin gets along great with his team and loves winning and loves the city of Charlotte and plans to sign a long-term deal in the summer.
B) The Hornets win 20 games, finish in 14th place in he East, Lin starts the last 70 games of the season, Lin averages: 18ppg, 4rpg, 7apg, while playing 33 minutes per game. Lin hates losing, his body is beat up from the heavy minutes, the Hornets are going to blow up the team, Lin once again is looking for a new home with uncertainty of his future.

To be honest, I wish him win a title, and being a significant part of it. I don't really care how much he earns (after all, does he himself care?).
Well yes he needs to get better each year.
Am I too greedy?

you don't understand
I see if lin average 18/4/7, the hornets will win 50 games, he is a team player...

Hi Clutchie, I love you...

They are the same. In both scenarios he receives a 4 year deal similar to the mid-level exception. So for argument's sake, lets say both deals land him 4/32 mil. In scenario A the deal is with the Hornets. In scenario B the deal is with an unknown team with an unknown role. This question isn't about money.

That's not the question. It would be easy to say you wanted Lin to play 30 minutes on a great team with great stats.
