He would be a great pickup, but I don't think Boston is actively shopping Brown like Washington is Beal. If Beal is available we should go for it and not wait around for Brown to become available.

Washington's GM is awful and has a history of attempting to fix past mistakes by making even bigger mistakes. Maybe we get Beal on a reasonable deal if we are the first team to make a serious offer.

Don’t know if it’s been discussed already but two players I’m interested in are D’Angelo Russell and WCS. I wonder if we could trade for them and take on a bad contract in exchange for one of our bad contracts.

No one talks about Taj Gibson (or not anymore if its been the case before) but i would much rather try to get Gibson (expiring) & say, A. Bradley since they either dont play or on expiring without matching the new core of the team (as long as Saric is).

Geting a highly ranked established player would cost too much, especially if we still dont know what Kemba's side will decide to do (Kemba is one thing, but as we saw recently, surroundings can mess up).

Just saying but a guy like Millsap is technically on expiring too (30M team option from Denver, and i dont see why they would pick it up). And there are many other good opportunities that would be 'under the radar' and way more productive than just signing one guy hoping it will be enough to turn the team into something really competitive.
My take is that one elite player along Kemba won't be enough by far and you dont move the cursor.

Earlier in the offseason we were talking - with Yosemite and couple more - about J Richardson here, and i was among the ones who thought he could really fit. Well, too bad now since he is exploding. But if Kupchak is that good, he will manage to get what this team needs and not just for the very short term.

@catch. i doubt wcs is available now that he is performing. I'd much rather explore that trade idea about batum vs Shumpert/Randolph

Last but not least, i dont need to point out that the most expensive is not necessary the most productive

We have no shot at Beal. Toronto, Philly, Boston all have way better offers than we could ever offer. Infuriating that Philly can trade for Butler and still have a bunch of assets to get another player. Cho is the worst

Kupchak should make an offer for Beal that would be too weak for him, but reasonable for Porter, then negotiate for Beal for a while just to see if Grunfeld can be swindled, and pivot to trading for Porter with something similar to the original offer (Nic + picks).

Philadelphia doesn't have the ability to salary match a trade for Beal without including Fultz, who seems to have a screw loose and likely has very little trade value. Beal also makes no sense from a roster construction standpoint unless they plan to do Reddick dirty. I also doubt Boston wants to add any players that need shots at the moment.

Toronto is the only one of the three that I could see putting together an offer that could rival or beat ours.

I’m surprised Philly hasn’t seriously tried to poach Kemba from us. He would put them over the top in the East and make the series against the Warriors very intriguing for them.

Yeah, this isn't really what I want to be hearing. Kemba/Beal doesn't guarantee we even get out of the first round if we gut the team. We could very easily end up facing Toronto/Milwaukee/Philadelphia/Boston in a 3/6 or 4/5 matchup.

The "regardless of cost" is scary. I think that has to include multiple 1sts and Miles.

Going in with the mindset that the cost doesn't matter is how you screw yourself. The cost always matters.

Assuming they wont take Nic. It will take at least 3 players to trade for him.

Lamb is an obvious one, then Monk (i assume they'd want a SG replacement) and then? Marvin, Cody and MKG all fit.

Not on board with AT ALL COSTS, heck no. We better keep Miles.
Marv, Lamb, Monk or Frank and a 1st is plenty good for Beal.

Bonnell just posted a story that echoes what Percy said. It looks like the interest in trading for Beal is legitimate. That, of course, does not guarantee at all that any deal will be agreed to.

I view Beal as almost a can't miss candidate, so the all in talk doesn't scare me too much. I do really hope we hang on to Miles.
