I don’t think salary dumping 4 million is worth the 14th pick at all. You would be lucky to get a pick in the 30s for that.

Maybe for Boston. I don't see Charlotte doing that. Why take on guaranteed money with 30 for a pick that low?
Pick 30 is one of the worst picks in the draft every year.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

you're on your own on that one, Kanter is only owed $5M then expires, Kupchak has been great with his late 1sts/early 2nds both here and in LAL. If we're offered pick #30 for $5M in cap space (well $6.5M or so factoring in the salary of the pick), any rebuilding team would take it and run, especially one whose GM has a history on hitting on late picks. The pick is only guaranteed salary for two years at a tiny amount, so if he sucks, we're down $1.3M next season, and $2M the next. Who cares? It's worth the shot.

I'd love to swoop up another late first/early 2nd. It's another bite at the apple.

Re: Fake Trade Thread 2
Here is a trade of mine, with the idea that Boston need a cap relief, while also needs a center, ATL have a ton of cap space with no clear target with it, while rumor has it that they are aiming for the PO this year and CHA are still in need of more assets:
CHA out: Zeller
CHA in: 1/26(BOS)+2/50(Hawks)+Poirier+Kanter
BOS out: Hayward+Poirier+Kanter+1/26
BOS in: Zeller
ATL out: 2/50
ATL in: Hayward
Boston can finally move on from Hayward, Kanter and the failed project of Poirier, while getting a known playing partner for Kemba, who can do all the little things for the 3 main guys. Major salary relief. If I'm correct they can even afford a mid-level player this year.
ATL can have a secondary ball handler, sharpshooter - at least thats the idea with Haywards fragile health. Fingers crossed for them, but the 2021 FA flexibility remains.
CHA picks up a late first, a mediocre second and maaaabye could squeze out another second rounder from ATL maybe?
Still maintain about 10 million for other cap relief projects if needed.

I think that Zeller's value to the Hornets is greater than the 26th pick. I also don't understand why Poirier is in this deal. I don't hate this idea overall though.

Zeller is a solid big but I don't know how much value he really has to us next season. We're not a playoff team and shouldn't be making any moves to help us only win next season. I'm not saying we should offer assets to trade him but I if we could pick up any assets while moving him then I think we should.

Poirier is a salary dump for BOS. I like Cody, he is a good dude but we don’t really need his services this year while BOS have two Cs that they cant use in the PO and Zeller could be a good piece for them and his contract runs out this year.

Westbrook is the new Bad Porn, lots of penetration and scoring but no happy ending.

Batum and Rozier gets us there. I think Russell has a few years left. I mean its a free All-NBA player, we just have to foot the bill in 2022

Send out Batum and maybe Rozier for him, but no picks. I swear if this front office gives up draft picks for Westbrook...

Re: Fake Trade Thread 2
I just don’t get the point. It’s another move that would scream chasing the 8th seed when that approach already backfired once. This also can’t be good for Devonte’s development. Of course Devonte is probably never even close to the player Westbrook is, but we just still aren’t in position to do this. And I can’t imagine he would be thrilled about coming here

Re: Fake Trade Thread 2
Interesting.
MJ absolutely LOVED Westbrook going into that draft. At the time iirc MJ said Westbrook was the only prospect he’s ever met that reminded him of himself - because he thought that Westbrook had that same sort of cold bloodiness that MJ has.
I wouldn’t be surprised at all if MJ is kicking the tires on Westbrook. Not at all.
I don’t like it for us, but I can see MJ loving it for his team.

I'm personally a big Westbrook fan, I just respect his competitive drive and his pedal to the metal game. With that said I also completely agree with this take, don't understand how it would make sense. If you are doing something like that, why'd we let Kemba walk?

I'm the only one here that wouldn't mind trading for Westbrook. That dude plays all out all the time. Its a joy watching him.

Batum for Westbrook and 2 future seconds. Who says no? I personally love a guy that leaves it all on the floor. And he isn't anywhere near as selfish as rgm makes you think.
