I would rather keep Rozier as his catch and shoot is deadly next to a guy that can penetrate like Westbrook

If we take on Westbrook we shouldn’t have any other long term money except for our own recently drafted players and Devonte who needs an extension soon.

I do think we should trade for best available star on a big contract because they will be off the books by the time PJ/#3 pick/possibly Miles and Martin are up for extensions.

Plus Westbrook will be a massive expiring in 2022 and who knows what teams will be trying to get out of contracts for better players at the trade deadline that year.

he does, but man he looked crappy at the end of last season.
I'm worried his ambition will outrun his ability as he gets older, less athletic.

If we do smash the tank by trading for Westbrook, I would offer Philly Batum for Horford as well.

Horford is a smart centre who I think could play with Westbrook. Assuming all our veterans are used for trades:

Graham,
Westbrook, Monk
Miles, Thing 1 & 2
Pj, McDaniels
Horford, OO or Wiseman

Back on that playoff treadmill.

Sacrificing the tank just before two (or more) potential picks that could turn this franchise into a legit contender in a few years would be beyond dumb imo.
I'd rather see a young talent turning into a star instead of a mid 30 old star turning into a grand pa in no time.

The pieces (Rozier/Batum/Miles/Zeller) Hornets have should be used to land young assets or future picks. There are enough veteran in FA this year to fill the needs (Napier, Lopez, Noel etc etc etc) for cheap.
If there are future picks (1st, and none valuable outgoing from the Hornets) in a Horford or a Wiggins trade, count me in though.

With attendance, thus revenues, set to crash, teams will be looking to win with leaner rosters. Russ has a 47 million player option he will exercise as a 35 year old PG with high mileage, dominating the ball with high usage regular season plus playoffs who relies on athleticism and has never learned to space the floor. Happy 32 to Russ. Today is his birthday. He can squeeze a few good years out of the media spotlight in NY. They need a quick fix and have a venue + marketing muscle to sell him.

Big N-O for me. I'd rather stay lean and pursue COVID bargains like Harrell while teams looking to cut costs overpay in draft assets to unload pricey contracts like Al Horford or even Buddy Hield. With shrinking ticket sales we may see some insane overpays from teams looking to salary dump.

As long as it's just Batum+Terry or something like that. If we're throwing in any kind of young asset, I'm moving on and continuing the rebuild. Not including #3, Devonte', PJ, Miles, Monk, probably not McDaniels either.

So for people who want Westbrook what is the ceiling of that team? 7 seed? I just don't get it. I want our team to be more than a first round sweep. Even younger Westbrook on his own couldn't get you much farther than that.

We'd still no doubt be worse than:

Bucks
Raps
Cs
Heat
Sixers
Nets

Similar to:
Pacers
Hawks

This team and by extension Jordan really lucked out starting a rebuild the same year that covid blew up the economy. We would be crazy to throw that away. This is the perfect year to continue a rebuild, stick with it for one more season. We'll come out the other side with a clear cap and be flush with young players still on their rookie deals.

My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu

Thoughts? It'd for sure take the 3rd pick. personally I wouldn't do it.

Think it’s unlikely we trade for Russ even with reports I think it’s more of a 2+2 situation that Hornets said we could accept salary dump.

Funny how casual fans think we are required to give up 3rd pick for him lol.

My guess is once Suns get CP3 Knicks might pivot to a Russ move and let himself play his last good basketball there.

I think instead of focusing on what we would give up in a Westbrook trade we need to focus on what Houston would give up to get out of that contract. They essentially gave up all their first rounders for the next 400 years in the Paul trade.

Won't take anything near the 3rd pick. Rozier, Zeller and 32 might get it done, but I'd ask something from Houston to take that contract on as its a net negative
