Re: BrandHIM Miller: The Brandon Miller Thread
Interesting shift here, seems they've gone away from something they used to do a lot with Brandon. Maybe something they can go back to and help him out of his slump? Or they're really trying to get him used to making something out of nothing against elite defenders one on one?

Re: BrandHIM Miller: The Brandon Miller Thread
I love Brandon, think he is turning into an awesome 2 way player but these dudes are high thinking he should be getting 53 million per year.
?s=20
Jalen Johnson is making 30 million per year, Bane makes less than 40 aav over his 5 year deal. Maxey makes 40 million AAV
That would be 13th highest contract AAV in the league, there is just no chance that is the number, especially on an extension.
And I get the cap is going up, but without every being an allstar there is no chance he gets the 100% full max.

I saw that post the other day and I was a little bit shocked anyone was discussing paying him that money. Unless he goes nuts over the last 2 months of the season and Carries us through a first round playoff series then that number is never happening.

Re: BrandHIM Miller: The Brandon Miller Thread
I've seen some ****-talking of Brandon online and I don't get it. people are upset he's not exactly the player they want him to be already. I still feel like he's sanding off the rough edges of his game, while taking on a unique and heavy workload on offense. I just have this sense that one day it's all going to fall into place and he's going to explode into the upper upper echelon of wings in the league.

The cap is rising so fast in this era that you can't let yourself be scared by crazy numbers, it's all funny money compared to a few years ago.
That being said I don't think Miller has done enough to automatically get a max extension without haggling him down. He's not an all-star, missed 1/3 of his seasons essentially so far, and you could argue he's third best young player on the team. I wouldn't try to insult him but I would expect his agent to see reason and start negotiations somewhere below the absolute max.

the old school hoop-head in me will never get used to what is allowed in terms of carrying/palming. but hey, you adapt your game to the whistles or get left behind.

IMO, Miller is delivering a very good performance level at his age & stage, given his health setbacks. I still think he can reach all-star status eventually. He needs to work on expanding his repertoire, improve his handle, gain experience.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: BrandHIM Miller: The Brandon Miller Thread
I don't get fans who try to discuss what players are worth. In reality all NBA players are overpaid. I can care leas what Miller gets paid it's not my money.
Fact is we have a legit core now and whatever it takes to keep them together you do it.
Besides if we let Miller walk because he's expensive who exactly are we replacing him with?

It's about cap allocation - i.e., he's not worth allocating X% of the salary cap.

That's fair, but there are some fans who just flat out don't want the player unless it's at a specific number in their mind. Like I get it, but let's be realistic Miller is going to get damm near close to the max. His upside and age makes that a guarantee. If we don't pay him plenty of other teams would.

To me Brandon is a 35m player. Basically what Melo is being paid now.

Re: BrandHIM Miller: The Brandon Miller Thread
he's very clearly not a max player by any means, but he's going to earn himself a pretty sweet pay day. I think the sweet spot between his current play and what we hope he can be, is somewhere right in that 35-40 range
investigate Adam Silver
