QQ Sports: You also mentioned you had a long talk with Clifford. Did he talk with you about whether you will start or come off the bench because Kemba plays at the starting 1, and things like you will be at 1 or 2? Are there definitive answers to those questions already?
Lin: He said if I was asking him now, then I would come off the bench, But he emphasized if I play well and the team needs me to start, then he wouldn’t limit me to a bench player. The coach also said he will let me play with Kemba for a long time and even if I don’t play well in Charlotte, he will give me a lot of room to play with mistakes.
I think the last part of the statement is most important. If a coach truly believes in Lin and allow him to play through some stretches of mistakes. Players like Harden in Houston can have 10 turnovers and still get his 35 mins per game. Harden is a turnover machine and plays no defense but no one will ever accuse him of either like they are doing to Lin. I do hope he will get his chance here so he reach his potential.
Harden can also score 40 points and approach a triple-double at will. You can live with your star player occasionally having big turnover numbers because of how much he'll give you in other areas. If Lin (or any other player) puts up 12/5 in 24 minutes but also coughs it up 7 times, that's an issue, because the good doesn't outweigh the bad.

true, it is also a risk if a coach wants to take with lin... with trust and confidence, he can do miracles....

Harden and Lin don't belong in the same sentence.

Re: Super Lintendo: The Jeremy Lin Thread
Lin is averaging 2.1.TO's per game in 22 mins. Its not great but not horrible. Hes also not shooting well at under 40%.. Certainly under his career stats. That will improve. For 2 million a year he's a bargain. However he's not playing well enough on this team to start and 6th player of the year for this team so far is the other Jeremy.....

You are picking stats to make your point. Lin also been shooting close to 50% on 3s, but I noticed you purposely did not state that. If you are looking at the over PER on the team, Lin is in the top 3. There are other aspects of basketball than just shooting.

No one is saying Lin is the offensive player like Harden. Having watched both side by side, Lin can be just as explosive on the offense if he is allowed to shoot 20 times a game like Harden. Harden got the green light while Lin does not.
Harden and Melo are two of the most overrated players in the NBA. Teams with both will never win a championship because they are both ball hogs and don't play any D.
Lin actually pass to teammates, which is something both don't do unless they got no choice.

Lol not surprised you are also a duke fan, one of the most overhyped and overrated teams in the NCAA ever
Let me ask you a simple question: do you believe Lin is more explosive athletically than Harden? I want to know your answer but I pretty know the answer already based on your past assumptions.

so, you're one of them... put Lin on a team by himself and let him shoot 20 times a game the way Melo does. Guarantee the team doesn't win 15 games. stop before you embarrass yourself

You should try to read my comments first before jumping to conclusions.
First of all, I don't believe ANY player should be shooting 20 times a game regardless what kind of contract they got or unless they are shooting in the flow of the offense. Second, Lin would never do that unless he is completely open. Lin is a unselfish player almost to a fault despite the fact he can score a ton if he has the green light Harden and Melo have.
My whole point is players like Harden and Melo shoot a TON. Their points per game looks good on paper but their teams will never win championships because teams play much better defense during playoffs. Also, no one pays attention their number of FG attempts. It is easy to stop one player superstar or not. Teams like Spurs play basketball the right way as does GSW.

No one would put Duke and football in the same sentence despite they actually have a decent team right now.
Duke basketball is overhyped every year despite getting every McDonald's Americans in the country and playing every NCAA regionals in their own home state. As an UConn fan, I take great joy my underrated Huskies blew past the Dukies on the way to multiple championships.
To me Lin is like UConn and players like Harden and Melo are like Dukies. They are simply overrated and overhyped by people who simply look at numbers on paper. There are quite a few NBA players who can score 20+ a game if they have the green light like Melo and Harden.
