Personally I like the signing.

Draft Express wrote:If you're not good enough to get off the bench for Caja Laboral, then clearly you deserve to get 5 million dollars from the Bobcats, right?

Sure, Reggie Williams can make 3s. But so can a lot of other 6-4 guys who would play for the minimum. They might actually try on defense too

Since @DraftExpress started going in on Reggie Williams, I've got four texts from NBA people. Three of the four agree with Jonathan. :-(

Nothing personal against Reggie guys. Just feel there are a lot of guys who would have put up similar numbers in the situation he was in GS.

Now this is a signing I like. Not fond of the Ely signing, but I like this one. Good fit, and the price is right.

I'm not as geeked about this signing as others. It doesn't bother me too much but I'm certainly not jumping for joy over it.

Not sure I see what more he brings that Hammer doesn't already bring?

Dante hasn't signed his QO and I think the Reggie Williams signing and UPS coming back puts him out the door. I think we improved.

I'm really liking the direction of the team right now.

DJ/Kemba
Henderson/Carroll
Mags/Williams/Brown
Thomas/White/Najera
Diaw/Diop/Bismack/Ely

That leaves us with one guy; Dante, McGuire, but I'm assuming a PG/SG type.

A consistent 3 point shot.

Unless there is a trade is on the horizion which is quite likely I'd say this team is taking shape for Drummond to fit right in. :D

Great signing! Cheap but Williams is very much serviceable.

Defense? On the Warriors? LOL no one plays D there.

Of all things beautiful, i now pronounce you as a Charlotte Bobcat. Welcome Reggie.

2 years at $2.5 mil, that's a damn steal.

Hammer career average from 3 = 39.4% over 8 seasons.
Reggie career average from 3 = 40.5% over 2 seasons.

Hammer career high from 3 for a season = 43.6% on 3 attempts per game over 80 games.
Reggie career high from 3 for a season = 42.3% on 3 attempts per game over 80 games.

:). Really: youth, (better) ability to play SF, excitement for regular fans that our FO is not f-worded up (they forget what happened tomorrow but still) and actually does something, potential. With Hammer you pretty much know what you've got, Reggie can still get better while growing with new nucleus.

Next thing to do would be find W_Hamilton (where is he lately?) and pretend Reggie Williams is actually white and wait for his reaction :)

  This isn't a surprise and is a good move to backup Hendo. Williams should provide us some scoring.

But Melvin Ely. Please!!! Thabeet would be better ,maybe :-? :-? :-? with whats left out in NBA FA /Waived/AARP Vets land. Couldn't we do better at Center picking up a center thats been waived by a team or will be waived after traing camp or NBDL?? I actually was a big fan of Melvins ,but that was some years back. How old is he anyway? :noway:

F Hammer, he can ride the pine till he's fried in the mind. Reggie is young with upside, better handles and athleticism.

With the Gasol trade having fallen through and Nene having resigned with Denver, it looks like Thabeet may have earned an amnesty reprieve. Its a shame because we could have used him.

With williams on board, it would be nice if we could ship out Carroll - perhaps packaging him with Diaw somewhere.

Like the signing. Didn't overspend for this guy and he will be a nice addition for the team. I like both Williams and the Ely sighing. People are loosing sight over Ely being a non-guaranteed contract. Means that we can cut him whenever and while he is here he will at least provide depth at a position we needed it badly. Reggie will be a boost off the bench this season!

Also pleased with this signing and the salary level is reasonable for a young player with potential to grow.

Hope we have a trade in us to get a better 5. Ely is no answer there.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

i dont think this is a hammer vs reggie thing. i think its adding another badly needed shooter. hammer can backup sg, reggie can back up sf.

plus, shooters get hot and cold. always good to have more than one 3pt threat on the bench. coach can go with the hot hand.
