Do you guys have any good 3-point shooters? With Bynum/Kobe drawing doubles and Nash dropping dimes everywhere, it would help to have a good shooter.

reggie williams was shooting around 40 for a while, and he could back up metta and kobe for about 18 minutes a night or whatever.

I've been a fan of Sessions for a while. This is a good move.

This is why I am cautioning everyone about assuming Kemba will be our starter. I love Sessions in this situation. He can bring us to a much higher place with some good players around him.

Thx for the info - Most Lakers fans want a draft pick, so they can use it to get Howard, but i'm in the minority in that I want to build our supporting cast instead.

I can't imagine including a draft pick for Ramon Sessions on our end.

I don't think you "promise" a starting role to anyone. You let the two guys go into camp and battle it out.

Good pick up, though.

yeah sessions isn't work a 1st for us. Maybe a 2nd along with reggie williams or something but it's unlikely that we'd lose an asset right now without gaining assets.

i like that kemba and sessions are similar players in the sense that they both are great off the dribble attacking the paint and both are good with pick and roll and both blazing fast. this should make for a seamless transition with one comes in for the other. the pace of the game, the plays called, the style of play can remain basically the same.

From ProBasketballTalk at NBC Sports:

http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/07/12/bobcats-reach-deal-with-point-guard-ramon-sessions/?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

The lowly Bobcats just got better.

The Bobcats have come to terms on a deal for point guard Ramon Sessions, according to Marc Spears at Yahoo Sports and the Charlotte Observer.

This is a good move, it gives the Bobcats a more known, steady entity to pair with Kemba Walker at the point. Sessions is a good pick-and-roll point guard who attacks and gets points for himself and sets others up. With the Lakers at the end of last season he averaged 12.7 points while shooing 47.9 percent (48 percent from three) and he averaged 6.2 assists per game. Sessions struggled for the Lakers in his first playoffs ever. The Lakers still talked about brining him back, but after signing Steve Nash there was no need.

Sessions is an upgrade at the point for the Bobcats. Good signing. And he won’t have to worry about his playoff performance this year.

Sounds like a starter to me :D !

was Sessions a UFA? bonnell is reporting Charlotte "signing" him so it wouldn't be a sign and trade by definition.

He will have to earn it. Isn't like hes a Chris Paul or anything.

Yes UFA, so I don't see Charlotte adding anything of value if it is a S+T.

But here's my concern; he's a better true pg than Kemba Chucker. What if KC starts jacking up stupid off balance shots and not getting the ball to the right players and Sessions comes in and does great? Will this cause KC to regress even more? I just don't see the move working when you have a young pg that is still trying to learn a new position, having a veteran looking over his shoulder, waiting to take his job. This could make KC's self confidence lower even more.

Not sure I like this signing. Session is pretty good, he had a killer year from distance last year despite making just 13 3s in the four years prior. He's an improved player, but do we really need another fringe starter-caliber point guard?

Nope. Kemba's assist rate was 30%. Sessions has beaten that every season he's played (except for one where he apparently sucked at everything).

Kemba had a higher ast/to ratio and only slightly lower AST% despite playing decent minutes at SG and having barely anyone to pass to. Given development, Kemba should be clearly better next season since he's on par now

you're moving the goalposts. Sessions had a 45% assist rate as a rookie btw

Dittos! Plus, who says Sessions is a fringe starter? I believe he started and performed pretty well for the Lakers. He has improved himself as a player. He hit a wall in the playoffs, but it was something that will help him learn and grow from. As the article stated, this is a fine upgrade for the Cats. If we can get a quality big, we may begin to resemble a real NBA team again!!

Good offensive player especially passing but he can't play defense for sh.it. He gets lit up by every point guards he played against.
