Re: Scavenger Hunt Draft - draft starts this weekend
i will post the categories today. they are done and tested. this will give everyone at least 2 days to prepare. only 3 returning categories, the other 12 are new, some not so glamorous.

Re: Scavenger Hunt Draft - categories updated, draft starts
categories have been added. let me know if you have any questions. i checked each of these categories to make sure they are valid. all have more than enough players to choose from. some are thin with top level talent however, so you need to plan accordingly.
Categories
Double #s - player must have worn a double # during at least one season (i.e: 00, 11, 22, 33, 44, 55…)
Big White Stiff - player must be white (both parents), born in the US, 6’10” (or taller), played at least 3 years in the league and never averaged more than 9.9 points per game during a single season.
Thief - player averaged 2.2 or more steals, playing at least 60 games in the same season.
Deep Sleeper - player was drafted in the 3rd round or later at least once (some players were drafted more than once).
March Madness - player played in the final four during college career
RIP - player who is deceased, must have played at least 1 NBA game, but no earlier than 1977 (ie: len bias doesn’t count)
Broadcaster - player who has worked as a broadcaster since retiring from the league
Like Gana - player averaged 46% or lower from the free throw line while playing in at least 60 games in the same season.
Windy City - player was either born, played high school ball or played college ball in Chicago.
All Star - player was selected to at least one all-star game
All NBA - player was selected at least one all-NBA team (1st, 2nd or 3rd)
Chucker - player has a career fg% of 41.00 or lower and attempted at least 1500 fgs.
Black Hole - player averaged 14.0 or more field goal attempts per game while also averaging 1.7 or less assists per game in the same season (minimum 20 games played)
6th Man - player had at least one season where they played in 60 or more games, but started 10 or less games, while averaging 10 or more points per game in that same season.
Journeyman - player played for a minimum of 4 NBA teams during career.

Re: Scavenger Hunt Draft - categories updated, draft starts
Props for updating some of the categories with necessary conditions, so there wouldn't be coincidences, per example, Robert Pack once averaged 2 steals per game, however he only played 30 games during that particular season.
And I absolutely love the Like Gana category and the other ones where it will be a struggle to find many great players. It will make our roster depths more realistic.
The "Big White Stiff" will be one heck of a challenge. At first I thought that it won't be that bad ending up with Danny Ferry or Danny Schayes. After checking their stats I realized that Ferry actually has averaged 13 points per game on a 47-win Cavs team.

Re: Scavenger Hunt Draft - categories updated, draft starts
some of these categories have maybe 2-3 allstars and the rest are just average starters and bums. most every team will end up with a couple of guys who are definitely "bench" guys. i think this will be the toughest one yet.

i am getting ready to do the draft order. i am using random.org, the sequence generator. i will be using the numbers we signed up and then randomizing those numbers to get the draft order.

Re: Scavenger Hunt Draft - categories updated, draft starts
Of course. Every time I start from the back. If we are including every NBA player ever, wouldn't it be more fair to do snake style? If not, then teams picking 1-4 will obviously have the best team unless they pick very poorly.

Re: Scavenger Hunt Draft - categories updated, draft starts
and remember, for the guys at the back of the draft order is reverse for the 2nd and 3rd rounds per rules.

                        - Serpentine draft, except round 3 will be reversed to give the guys picking last a little bonus.
i.e. 1st round: 1>10, 2nd round: 10>1, 3rd round 10>1, 4th round, 1>10, 5th round 10>1, 6th round 1>10 etc...

Well I know I'm really new here, so if there was someone who wanted in I'd be fine watching as well. It's definitely looking interesting and like there'll be lots to do. I've got the time though.

Yeah but the tenth slot in the sequence is #8 not #12.
#12 is the second slot, so that would be sachmo
