I really wanted Biz. Everything I read about him fascinated me.

i wanted biyombo because he was a shotblocker with size and upper body strength. i also wanted kawhi leonard with kemba's pick but fell in love with kemba very quickly.

Same. I'd only seen the one video of his triple-double in that exhibition game, and then read up everything there was to read up about the guy, saw all the Ben Wallace comparisons, etc. and figured "hey, we're going to be terrible for the next few years anyway, the dude probably is too raw to even contribute, he'll probably spend the first couple years in the D-League, it'll help the tank and once we're actually good, we'll have one extra stud on our hands."

I wanted Kanter, Kwahi and Klay and didn't mind the Biz pick. I was pretty much indifferent.
I just knew I didn't want Knight, Fredette or Singleton.

Re: The Brickhands Biyombo Thread 2.0
For us hardcore fans, I think it's hard to ignore his subtle improvement from last year - particularly in terms of coordination, confidence, and shooting stroke. It hasn't translated to much statistically speaking, but he seems much more comfortable on the court, can catch the occasional pass, and has looked particularly strong at the line the second half of this season.
Sure he disappears entirely from game to game on the boards, still bobbles passes, and has zero offense to speak of (and I don't think it's Biz-bashing to occasionally point this out), but to me he looks like he could be a significant piece of the puzzle by the time his rookie contract expires and we're forced to give him more money than he probably deserves.

You know what is ironic about all of our I wanted this person, and that person wanted another person? Cho wanted Tristian Thompson, but Cleavland scooped him up first.

I like Biz. He is going to turn out good, be patient. Also, the guy never gets hurt. That is an underrated quality in a developing player, because they can't spend there time on their game rather then rehab.

I know for sure many of this board would like him better than Mullens, no matter they would deny that. That's just nature of this board.

I just want to know what happens next season if Biz hasn't crossed the "Larry Sanders" line next year? What are the excuses then?
I've heard this stuff for 2 years now about Biz. This is like listening to Cubs fans talk about how much better things will be next year.
I hope he's better, and I hope he surprises me by becoming a LOT better. I just don't think he will emerge as a legit starter in this league.

he'll be 21 next year, so I wouldn't expect him to look like dwight yet

Honestly biz works way to hard to be a bust. How can you root against a guy that you have to kick out of the gym? Even after next year if he doesn't turn the corner I will continue to support him because I know he is trying.

Exactly how I feel. Maybe he ends up only being a 3rd energy big off the bench but I think he'll be better than that. For me Biz is the antithesis of Mullens.

Hey, I get the work ethic, and that is commendable. I never compared him to Mullens; the two are too different people. I think Biz will work his way into a long career in this league, but it will be as a reserve big who brings some energy and defense. That's not bad...just not what I waned from a #7 pick. Biz was a reach by Cho, at a moment we needed a true difference-making starter.

Kind of a flaw in your logic there. #7 picks aren't locks to be stars.
Harrison Barnes
Bismack Biyombo
Greg Monroe
Stephen Curry
Eric Gordon
Corey Brewer
Randy Foye
Charlie Villanueva
Luol Deng
Kirk Hinrich
Nene
Eddie Griffin
Chris Mihm (it gets way, way worse after this http://www.hoopsworld.com/history-of-th ... -number-7/ )
How many of these guys are really tearing it up short of Curry, Deng, and maybe Nene? At the end of the day, Bismack might look like one of the better #7's drafted just because of health.

if biyombo rounds into a solid reserve big who brings energy and defense, you should not dump him because you originally drafted him at #7 and hoped for more. you sign him as that solid reserve big who brings energy and defense.

Call me cheap, but I am actually hoping that we resign to a reserve contract before he turns the corner. But like Countryboi said he works to hard to be a bust. On top of that he is to smart. If he was 22 and was still plodding alone I might be worried a little, but I still wouldn't count him out. At only 20 he is going to get better just because he is so young. I don't even get the nay sayer thinking. At only 20 years old and only four years of organized coaching he is already averaging 7rbs. and 2 blocks. As pathetic as that may seem to you guys Chris Bosh isn't averaging those many boards and blocks. Give the kid time. He's going to be fine.

Re: The Brickhands Biyombo Thread 2.0
Imagine if we sign Biz to a Koufos-like contract. 3-4M for like four years and then he turns the corner.
He would get plenty more in the open market though, smart teams will scout Biz, and see that he's a very hard worker, smart, and has a great mindset.
